SkilletSizeBass. Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I picked up a Shimano ci4 2500 today at BPS and was curious if anybody has used one and what line their using with it? I've been using 10lb. P-Line CX premium my other spinning outfit and it seems to have worked out ok, any suggestions? It will be mounted on a G-Loomis sjr783 6' 6 " med. heavy fast action rod mostly for worms and soft plastics. Quote

SkilletSizeBass. Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 I've never used braid before, I may look into it. whats the pro's and cons on braid? Does it work better on spinning outfits? Quote
trevor Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I like braid on spinning reels because you dont have the memory problems like you do with mono. Quote

midnighthrasher Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Go pickup some power pro 20lb in green. Thats all you need. Quote

I haven't had problems with p-line cx prem. breaking, maybe some line twist issues, I just figure that somewhat goes with spinning gear. I wish it came in just clear and not just hi-vis, or flurocent clear and green. With so many types of line and brands and each mfrg. claiming theirs is best, its a little confusing. A P-line rep. recommended I use their co-polymar line. A buddy says he uses braid and really likes it. Thanks for the help. Quote
bigfruits Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 ive never used braid but i think im going to try power pro... these are the lines i've used (stradic FI) and recommend , all better with kvd line conditioner: mono - trilene xl copoly - yo-zuri hybrid ultra-soft (cheap, sensitive, very low memory with kvd) flouro - trilene 100% (only flouro ive used, great reviews) i think choosing a line has alot to do with personal preference. some may love yozuri US while others hate it etc. Quote

Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 17, 2010 Super User Posted February 17, 2010 I have one and love it, I use 8-10lb P-line Floro-clear or Yo-Zuri Hybrid, which ever I have available at the time. Quote

I know based on when I using 30lb PP for a long time I NEVER caught a fish with it and I fish fairly clear water. I put on some YZ Hybrid and suddenly started catching fish using the same lures/techniques that I was when I used braid. I know it's not the problem of when I was using braid I just couldn't catch anything, because I used it for so long and when I used another rod without braid, I could catch fish. I'm just saying it's going to keep me from ever using braid without a leader in clear water. I mean maybe if you're using reaction baits, it wouldn't be as big of a deal to use braid without a leader. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 17, 2010 Super User Posted February 17, 2010 Try a spool of Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6. I think you will like the line. For added performance, treat the line with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner when you spool your reel. 8-) Quote

the crab Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Seaguar Invisix 8lb. It's about the same diameter as 6lb from other manufactures. It's a little pricey but worth it in my opinion. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted February 18, 2010 Super User Posted February 18, 2010 You didn't goff, the thread is about line. Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6 = 11.9 lb breaking strength #8 = 12 lb breaking strength #12 = 19.5 http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/ProdLine/HybridLineChart.htm 8-) Quote
Thai Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 I've got mine spooled with 6# vicious flouro and despite hearing some bad reviews on the stuff it is incredibly limp and cold temp don't seem to effect it's manageability and I haven't had any breakoffs yet. It's also fairly abrasion resistant I suggest checking it out it's fairly cheap also Quote
