scrutch Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 NE1 get their hands on this one yet? Diawa's Twitchin' Bar. revolution or gimmick? Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 I had the Viento for at least 4 years and had a Megaforce for a while. I had the Viento on every rod and thought it was a good reel, but I never found a technique that was really improved with the twiching bar. The Megaforce is a little faster reel and I found that if you rapidly press on the twiching bar, you could make a soft body frog walk the dog perfectly (the Viento was too slow in ratio for this). Unfortunately, the Megaforce is not as good of a reel as the Viento is. Therefore, if Daiwa made a high ratio reel at the same quality as the Viento, then you would have the perfect soft bodied frog reel, but as it stands now, the twitching bar is a novelty. Quote
Blade-Runner Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 I have the Viento and think it is a solid reel. However, I stopped using the Twitchin' Bar within about a week. Retrieve and rod is where the action is. Literally. Quote
Kowen117 Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 i use mine for jigging i can pick up slack like that and it allows me to keep one hand on the line to detect the smallest bites Quote
-nick- Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I had the Megaforce for a while and it's an awesome reel for 60 dollars. Casts great and is very smooth for a 60 dollar reel, but the twitchin bar broke on mine making the whole reel unable to be used. All the twitchin bar does is add unnecessary weight to the reel. Quote
Simp Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I serouisly advise you stay away from this reel. I had one and the twitchin bar brake so I returned it. In less the a week the other one broke. I've also seen to other people at our local dicks return there's for the same problem. It also has a VERY WEEK DRAG! Your a ton better off lookin on the flea market here or on ebay for a used Citica 200E for 80-100$. You proably could find some new for 100$. Quote
