kyron4 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Both of these spinning reels have aluminum frames, the Sahara 1500 holds the same amount of line as the Exceler 2000. Being the same size the Exceler is about 1 oz. lighter and has more ball bearings. Anyone use either or both ? If so how do they compare ? Which is the better reel ? I've got a few 750 Saharas and love them , but i've read some good things about the Exceler and it's $10 less. Any thoughts ? -Thanks Quote
LAO162 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 The Exceler 2500 has been my most used spinning reel. My Tierra is smoother, but functionally the Exceler is about the same. Last year the Exceler just happened to be on a rod that I used frequently... The only drawback of the Exceler is that occasionally the bail will trip on a hard cast. This also happens with my other reels... I found casting distance and line management of the Exceler to be better than my Stradic 2500 FH (white version). I believe part of the advantage is due to the wider spool. Either the Exceler or Sahara would be fine reels, but I believe the Sahara comes with only 1 spool. Quote
hmongkidBee Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 the sahara is the better choice. I like daiwa's spinning reels, but only in freshwater. If you fish both fresh and inshore then go with the sahara. Shimano reels always have less bearings because they're good quality. However, daiwa puts more bearings in their reels to make it feel silky smooth on the retrieve and such. Quote
repper Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Get the Exceler. Daiwa's spinning reels last longer for me, with smoother drag, and better casting. Quote
Slipknot6 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Exceler for sure! I've got 3 of them and love them with no issues in the last 2 years Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 15, 2010 Super User Posted February 15, 2010 Either you choose will be ok, the Exceler is not better than the Sahara nor the Sahara is better than the Exceler, I 've got a Sahara 2500FB and a Revros 2004 ( the only difference between the Revros and the Exceler is the spool or you can say the Revros is an Exceler with a shallow spool and different name ). So far the only difference ( other than the spool ) I 'm able to tell between both is the smoothness, the Sahara feels buttery smooth, the Revros feels silky smooth. Quote
