I know this has been asked before but cant find it . I have been using power pro braid this last year for flipping and been noticing lot of fray toward end of line and that the line is not staying round causing it to dig into reel extremely bad. Any suggestions on another brand?

i only use spectra lines . with that being said , all braids are not very abrasion resistant to rocks and mussels .so maybe find out what is causing the fraying . I used to use power pro only , now i have been switching over to Izorline premium spectra braid , doesn't have as much coating as power pro , i hate new power pro line , so by buying Izorline spectra , it's like buying brand new broken in power pro !!! kinda like buying pre-faded jeans , and not having to worry about color fade !!!!! :D btw , if your flipping in and around rocks or other highly abrasive stuff , you might think about using a good floro leader in 20 or 25 lb. line . try Seaguar AbrazX , Trilene 100% , Sunline shooter , Toray super hard , etc....  :)

hey I heard a lot of good things about daiwa samurai braid.  I've never tried it because it's very pricey but from what I heard it doesn't dig into your spool and casts very smooth.

All of the smaller diameter superlines will dig into the spool more than the larger diameters no matter which brand. Samurai is no better or worse for that. I use the Samurai 30# and 40# on spinning gear and the 40# which is 8# mono diameter is less prone to digging in when subjected to stress. Use at least the 8# mono equivelent diameters to lessen diging in and also keep tension on the line as much as possible when using them. When installing the superlines, keep a lot of tension on the line to get a tight wind on the reel spool. Even the smaller diameter lines can be used with no substantial problems if user error is eliminated.

I use 50-65# for my baitcasters, I always had problems with the line digging in the spool using 30#, I upped it to 50-65# and it hasn't done it since...
