stosh Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Hi all, I was cleaning up in my garage and found a 6' 3" medium weight moderate action Fenwick bc rod. It's a HMG and rated for 1/4 oz. to 5/8 oz. I am probably going to be throwing Bandit cranks for the majority of the time which are 1/4 oz. Any suggestions on any good reels for this weight? I doubt I will throw anything lighter than that. The price range I am looking for is in around the Citicas and Revo S's but will go higher if something really catches my eye. I have a Quantum Code that i don't care for and a Patriarch WLP which I really like but don't really want to spend that much since I just found the rod. Open to any suggestions. Thanks Quote
kikstand454 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 whats wrong with the code? i think itd be perfect for what youre wantin to do. if its in good shape... maybe i can take it off your hands and help you with a buck or two towards a revo. Quote

Redsyn Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 What is your exact dollar amount budget? I ask because if you are willing to spend citica money then the msrp is prob going to be $130 around w/tax. In which case I would recommend you to look at the daiwa fuego at *** or curado on ebay which are like 15 more then your budget but you will get a much better reel. Also I wouldn't be restricting myself from getting a nicer reel just because you are going to mount it on the rod you found and dont care for. You may choose to upgrade or get another rod down the line but you will still have a great quality reel to mount it on. Trust me if you want to save money, buy quality the first time and you wont have to waste money to "upgrade". You already know, you got the quantum code. J/k I just never even look into buying a quantum reel because one time I was at a tackle shop when someone bought a new quantum bc reel and while spooling it w/ line the spool cup broke. This was a brand new reel!!!! He got his money back and I think he got a shimano. Generally quality reels will last you a really long time especially for bass fishing. Plus if you stick to daiwa, shimano, or abu and dont like it. you can always sell it and not take too much of a lost if you take care of it. Good luck Quote
tnbassfisher Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 You can find Citicas for fairly cheap. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted February 13, 2010 Super User Posted February 13, 2010 That is a pretty good rod. I have several of them myself. I have Curados on mine. I'd put the Citica on it. Quote
