Hey all,

i came across a website which is selling the Revo STX baitcaster for $169.99, free shipping.  has anyone ever ordered from this site?

i could save a good chunk of change going this route compared to buying it at BPS.

If i were to order from this site, is there anything that i should ask them before placing my order?  like warranties or anything like that?

i would like to order this tomorrow if i could get a quick response.  I do have there number and was going to call the order in rather than doing it online.  that way i would speak to someone directly.  heres the site:

I have not ordered from this site. They are getting rid of their 2009 models. 2010 models have externally adjustable Infini Brake dual system, bent handle and drag star. I wouldn't call this a "great" price, especially for 09's now. You could probably do better on eBay or BR Flea Market if you have the patience.

thanks for the feedback.  heres my question.  how do you know a 2009 model from a 2010?  I was going to buy this reel at the BPS classic but if i could save some change then i could spend that on some lures.

on page 84 of the master catalog, they show the revo stx, but i have no clue whether its an 09 or 2010

pg 84 in Bps catalog is the 2010 model which has the "bent handle" and the copper-looking cap inside the handle. Compare the handles to the link you posted.

ah ha, thank you!!  i see the difference.  i did see some on ebay but im nervous about the whole warranty part of it.  has anyone bought a new stx on ebay and had the warranty honored when needing it fixed or whatever?

Most brick and mortar stores will refer you to the manufacturer for any warranties anyway. At this price level, you should not have any problems buying it new. I've always taken my reels to a local guy for repairs which is usually reasonable versus shipping and waiting on the manufacturer.

As far as eBay goes, if you're worried - just make sure the seller is an authorized Abu Garcia dealer which usually means you'll pay a little more too. I bought a new Premier for $135 on eBay - perfect w/ no problems. The seller bought a lot of rods and reels from a tackle shop going out of business (I assume at cost) and he wanted to quickly turn a 20% profit. But I'm sure there are some bad stories out there too.

it is a nice chunk of change.  this seller has 23k + feedback.  he seems legit anyways.

Good luck with the STX! I bought an SX last year, because I prefer the smaller reel. It's amazing. Very easy to maintain and adjust the gears. It feels so good reeling bass in on it, too.

I will be looking to get a new one for 2010...may choose to go with the STX so I can chase those hawgs. 8-)
