Frog rod and swimbait rod in one?

I'm looking to add to my arsenal for the upcoming MONEY season I will be having. I was wondering if i can have a frog rod and swimbait rod coexist in one? Or are the characteristics too different? thanks, homies.

I have used my Dobyns 734 for frogs in slop and swimbaits, and have had no problems setting the hook or any other issues throwing either.

The only problem I would see would be the line. I put 50 lb braid for frogs and 20lb mono for swimbaits (1-1.5oz and under).

However you could probably get away with 30lb braid for both, its just a matter of personal preferance.

You might, imho, it depends on far you want to take swimbaiting..stay with the light baits, you'll likely be o.k. although I'm not feelin the 30lb braid. But if you decide to venture into bigger baits, that rod won't work.

I would recomend a dedicated swimbait rod, if your serious about it. Also I would bump up to 55 lb braid min. for anything 1.5 ozs up to maybe 3 ozs, then it's time for heavier line.

mostly any swimbait rod rated up to 4-6 oz. , will throw frogs also . i have a rod that is rated for 2-6 oz. baits ( the rod is built on a Rainshadow blank (ISWB945) and is a medium heavy powered , moderate fast action rod) i also use it to throw frogs and deep diving crankbaits .
