trevor Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 What do you guys that fish with Daiwa like about Daiwa? Quote
MtCarmelTriton20x Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Well that is a good question. I never really thought I was loyal to a brand of reel or rod until I started fishing with zillions. They just seem to fit my hand. I used to have a ton of different brands in the boat and never had a problem out of any of them but they just don't feel right in my hand. I also like the ease of tearing down a Daiwa for maintenance. They are much less aggravating than some. Then there is the fact that I can adjust the casting drag for different weight lures without messing with the palm plate and a bunch of little sliding pins(I hate this on my SKT's). They reel smooth and seem to be pretty durable so what more can you ask for? I think everyone has a preference but it really comes down to how it feels to you and not what others like. Now rods on the other hand I think Shimano has the perfect idea. A quality rod at a decent price and if you break it they replace it. You really can't beat that. ;D Quote
NJBass12 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 They build a high quality product thet they stand behind. Mf first baitcaster was a Daiwa Procaster. I've had it for over 25 years and I still use it from time to time just for kicks. Still works great. My first spinning reel was Daiwa too, still have it and it works. Years back the bail spring on my Regal spinning reel broke. I called Daiwa to order a replacement. They sent me 3 of them for free. Now I know they are not expensive, but the fact they did that was great. A few years ago one of my Daiwa Tough & Light rods snapped when I swung a bass up on to shore. The rod was 2 - 3 years old. I called Daiwa, they told me to send the rod to them, 2 weeks later I had a new one. They do not advertise Life Time warranties on their rods but they do stand behind them. The fact that they stand behind their products means a lot to me. Their reels are very smooth, they have an awesome drag system and feel comfortable in my hands. Quote
Super User CWB Posted February 10, 2010 Super User Posted February 10, 2010 I still have the first baitcaster I ever bought- a Daiwa Procaster SM2A. Still works like new after 30 some years. Quote
Jake. Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Daiwa's mid-high end reels are very refined. They have tight tolerances and great performance. Quote
VAfishin4me Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Reliability, durability, castability, smoothness, and that "connected" feeling you have from the handle to the reel Quote
steezy Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 On the high end side (steez) its the very smooth precision feel with no play or rattle when turning the handle. Other brands are very good too but not as smooth. The exception would be the Shimano Stella spinning reel, feels like butter in your hand. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 11, 2010 Super User Posted February 11, 2010 I have a few Diawa's Advantages,Tierras, Sols and Fuegos, and a couple Excelers. Honestly, I guess I am not a reel nut, they are just reel's to me. I feel the same about my Shimanos, Abu Garcias, Qunatums, and Pfluegers. But I like them just fine, and would buy more. Quote
KYbass1276 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I was a shimana man, well still am to an extent I like them alot and no problems. But I bought my zillions and I absolutly love them. As stated already they are so easy to adjust and just feel rite in my hands. I remember avid said here once and I will try to get it correct without butchering it to much cause its been a couple of years ago. If you want a smoothness like a cadilac get a shimano, if you want to feel of a high end sports car get a daiwa. Quote
Cavfirst Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I was a die hard abu man an after about 3-4 years of use I started having problems then I switched to daiwa no problems an they are smooth the breaking system is awesome, they are very well balanced, feel good in your hand, and they are easy to maintenance Ive always been to each his own kinda guy but I would recommend daiwas products to anyone wanting good equipment at a good price. Super User Raul Posted February 11, 2010 Super User Posted February 11, 2010 Daiwa when it makes something good it makes it reely good, the ergonomics are great, the reels are very refined, good looking, tight, perform very well and last a long time; BUT, Daiwa also has skeletons in it 's closet, so as long as you avoid the "novelties" from Daiwa you are in safe territory. Bronzefly Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 What do you guys that fish with Daiwa like about Daiwa? Performance, quality, style, and all the cool aftermarket mods available! But I love my Shimanos too! 8-) Quote
