SnookOne Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I am still in the market for a Shimano Cardiff, however I am not sure if I should get the 100 or 200! I want to use it for freshwater, as well as some inshore. Is there really that much of a size difference besides the max drag? There are NO stores near me who have them for me to compare including Bass Pro Shops, so I may need to order it online. Any opinions help! Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted January 30, 2010 Super User Posted January 30, 2010 The 200 holds about 70 yds more for 10lb test. Here's a link to some cardiff info. http://www.***.com/descpageRLCSHIMANO-SCCRA.html Quote
Super User islandbass Posted January 30, 2010 Super User Posted January 30, 2010 I have a 301A to handle my salt water fishing. I also use it on occassion for cranks since it has a sub 6 gear ratio. With regard to size, you should consider whether or not any of the species you might encounter could spool a 100 or 200 sized reel. Quote
SnookOne Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 Thanks for the info guys! I was actually at a Sports Authority the other day and they had a Cardiff 200 on clearance for $68.97 because it was in the wrong box. I could not pass that up! Quote

Super User islandbass Posted February 1, 2010 Super User Posted February 1, 2010 That is a bargain and a half. Congrats on scoring a pretty darn good reel. Quote

I actually saw it in their glass case where they keep all of the reel stock. Like I always say...Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile! ;D Quote
