I'm looking at the Supreme 8030 and 8035 spinning reels. I was wondering if the 8030 is more like is more like an UL reel, or a 2000 or 2500 type reel?

I do like the reduced weght, and the price is nice.

Opinions?

Close to 2500. I liked the one I had before it got destroyed by fire.

yep, the 30 is close to the 2500 shimano or 20 in quantum

What they said. My 30 size is plenty of reel.

I like the 8030 as well. It's not a big spooled reel, but not what I would consider small either.

FWIW the 30 series in a President is quite a bit smaller.

That's one of my only complaints about Pflueger's spinning reels. It makes it difficult to order them online because I'm never sure how big they really are.  :-/

I use the President 30 with 8# mono and I have no problem with the size FWIW.

:-? Every 30 size I've seen in any model has been the same size so far.  Trion, President, President XT, Maxx, and Maxx Pro.  I have not looked at a Supreme though.  Might be different.  I don't know.

I have a 8030 Supreme, and just serviced K macs Presidents in the 30 size. The president is definitely smaller

I thought when we talked about the two that it was interesting that the 30 size was not the same across the board. I guess someone smarter than us make these decisions? ::D

I have 2 Shimano Symetre 2500's already, and am looking for a reel in the $85-120 range.I like the Symetre just fine, just not the new greenish ones. That new Stradic is pretty sexy, but not sure about dropping that much on a spinning reel. How does the Supreme stack up to the other reels in its price  point?

No problems at all. These are rock solid reels.

Not sure about the XT. I think I'm going to get one though so I should be able to compare it to the regular Supreme.

I used an 8030 with 10lb 100% Flourocarbon last season with 1/16 and 1/8 oz shakey heads with ZERO line management issues.

These reels are light, smooth, manage line well and are fast. A pretty good combination if you ask me.
