Anyone know when the new Revo SX is supposed to be available? That is one sweet looking reel and I bet it would look even sweeter on one of the new Dobyns Savvy rods.

You mean these?

I have two of them already since October. I would go to a local pro shop. I haven't seen the online.

Aside from the swept handle and drag star, is this reel upgraded at all from the older model?

I have heard from a Pure Fishing rep(which owns Abu) that they are not going to be releasing the 2010 Revo SX's until they deplete their stock of 2009 and earlier models of the SX.  Another little tidbit of info that I got is that the new 2010 SX are going to be considered 2010/2011 and will be released over the next few months.  Which sucks because I have special ordered one when I went to the Bass A Thon show in Anaheim in November and I still have not gotten it yet... I got a free Vendetta rod for buying the reel though, so that kinda makes up for the delay(not really...). Just sharing the information that I have.

Considering I have two of them already, I highly think that is accurate. I have owned them since October of 2009. My local Pro Shop always has them in stock, although they sell like hotcakes.

Now this may be true for big stores such as Cabelas, Bass Pro, ***, which I know still stock older model Refvo SX's until they sell out or get close to it.

How do you like the new Revo SXs? Are they better than the older models, casting wise? I have read on this forum that the older SXs can be a little problematic at times. Also do you have the 6.4:1 or 7.1:1 or both, which do you prefer?

In fact I do have both models, the one pictures is the high speed model,

I use the high speed one on my 7'6 flippin stick, for punching in the delta.

The 6:1 ratio is use on my 6'6 rod, I consider this my all purpose rod. I am a co-angler, I have 5 rigs I don't want rods for every situation so I narrowed it down to 5. I like it, it is super smooth and it doesn't feel like you are reeling in anything which is weird, but it tells me that I combo'd the rod and reel just right. Drag is amazing, As far as quality, i have only fished with Abu Garica and Shimano reels, so yeah I feel like it is on par for the money with my calcutta's.

I like the high speed model due to the high line to reel ratio I think it is like 32-35 inches per crank, which is good for flippin, and since the reel is light and compact I can do it all day. I am not disappointed, some may not like the sweeping handle and drag but I do, I feel it is little more ergonomic feel to it. But each to his own. I always like the new color scheme. As far as the internals goes, I don't think there is a whole lot of difference from the previous except maybe a different brake system, I can't remember off the top of my head.

From Icast 2009

So in the end I don't prefer either, I love both since they serve their specific purpose. I cast unweighted senkos on the 6:1 like I have a 1/2 oz weight on there. Reel is butter. Just take care of it and it will take care of you.
