-nick- Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I just pulled the trigger on a dx702sf and now need to start looking at what spinning reel I want to mount on it. I don't want to spend more than 200. I'm going to probably put 6-8lb flouro on it. Thanks guys! Quote
SWMIBASSER Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Save $100 and pick up the Pflueger Supreme. Great reel, very light, fast. I'm curious what the XT version gets you over the regular Supreme....Can't go wrong with either. I've heard good things about the Abu Soron STX also. Most Daiwa's are a safe bet, and another way to save some $$. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 TW has a SOL for $209. Here:http://www.***.com/catpage-RLSDAIWA.html Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 Everyone I know that has purchased the new Stradic 2500CI4 is impressed. My initial reaction is that the reel seems comparable to the Stella 2500FD at about 1/3 the cost! http://www.tackletour.com/reviewicast09shimanoreels.html 8-) Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I have the Shimano Sahara and it's a very good reel and I also have the New(as of last year) Quantum Catalyst PTI-B20. I haven't fished the Quantum the the Sahara held it's own for a year of fishing and is a great reel in the under $100 range. The Symetre is also a great value as well. My brother has the Soron and loves it Quote
-nick- Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 Stradic CI4 I think this is the reel I'm leaning towards. Just wondering if there were any others out there that would be a great match for the Champion Extreme. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 28, 2010 Super User Posted January 28, 2010 For less than 200 a stradic fi is a winner, better handle than the c-14 imo. Since I bought my first supreme, I now have 3, 2 fresh 1 saltwater, my stradic fi collects dust and I think the stradic is terrific, that says how I feel about the supreme, no advantage to the xt. I don't think you need to spend more than a 100 for a freshwater spinning reel, spend more and you are the fish being reeled in. Quote

I like you're thinking. It's just for a nice 300 dollar rod I feel like I need to mount something good on it. I wish those Supreme's didn't have Pflueger across it in big letters. I think it's more of a problem with the P and F. They just shouldn't go together like that. And the whole ueg. I guess I'll have to go to the local tackle shop and check some out to see what I like. Revo_Carrot Stix Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I have a few spinning reels in my arsenal that I only use about 25% of the time. I haven't been too impressed with Shimano and especially Quantum's KVD spinning reels under $100. Shimano Symetres and Pflueger Presidents are great reels! For the money though, I'd go with BPS Johnny Morris line. I just bought one and I can feel a huge difference in quality and the price is under $70. Good luck! Quote

Bronzefly Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Stradic CI4 Yep! Nice lightweight reel in that price range! edited - the one in the flea market sold... Quote
-nick- Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Stradic CI4 Yep! I just put a brand new one up in the flea market that's in your price range!! Haha figures. I'm on a part time job working almost 15 hours a week and still have gas and everything else to pay for so it'll be about a month before I can put enough money to the side for one now since I just dropped almost 300 on that rod. If you put that up earlier I would've bought that first and got the rod later! I'm thinking you should keep it for about a month and let the box collect a little dust then I'll take it off your hands! ;D Edit: Scratch that Valentines Day is around the corner. : Make that 2 months. I've used lower end ones and for the money were great reels. I guess I'll just have to see which one feels the best maybe the local little shop will let me mount a couple on my new baby. Quote
uicdent11 Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 I am a fan of the Stradics. It is everything I would want in a reel. Loved the feel of the Sol, but sold them both and picked up Stradic MgFB. It didn't pick up enough line for me and I figured I could make a few bucks by selling them and getting the Stradic. Quote
Choke Canyon Boy Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Shimano Stradic 2500fi is one of the finest reels I have ever owned. Silent, smooth as butter, great grips and drag. OY YA on E-bay has these reels brand new shipped for 127$ you will not be disappointed if this is what you choose. Quote
