borderc21 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I did a search to see what everyone was thinking about the new Skeet Rods. Any thoughts? Im in the market for a new rod under $150. Bought a Carrot a few months ago and love it. Just want to make sure Im keeping my options open. Whats it going to be? Quote
barroncooper Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I agree on the compre or falcon. but on the falcon side i'd go with the bucoo. I think it might be the lightest most sensitive rod @ that pricepoint (that I've used). only thing is with the bucoo, if you want a med/heavy action, go with the heavy and so forth. I think their actions are a little lighter than advertised Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 I played with one at BPS, and liked it. Interesting you say you liked the CarrotSticks bc that is what it most reminded me of. I didn't look long bc the color scared me away lol. But they appeared really nice for the money. They are so new I doubt you'll get many real on the water reviews yet. Gonna have to buy one and tell us what you think. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 i like the Skeet rods. IMO a much better rod than the Mojo. if you want to spend that whole $150 a Lowrider is a good bet. Quote
n2ratfishin Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Reese rod is HEAVY. Check out the Cat rods on their website. Limited actions but great rods for the budget. Of course Basscat doesn't make rods, the people that make them are in the USA. HMMMM who could that be??? Falcon, Avid, St Croix would be other choices if you are buying off the rack. Quote
Matt Kremers Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I am fortunate to have a Bass Pro nearby, so I stopped in to get my hands on some new rods. I'm in the same ballpark you are. I compared the Skeet Reese, Vendetta, BPS Carbonlite, and Bucoo. The Skeet rods were pretty heavy. The heaviest of the group for sure. They were a little whippy for my liking as well. My choice: Falcon Bucoo. Made in USA (big plus for me), extremely lightweight, well balanced, quality components. Couldn't ask for a better rod at the pricepoint. Quote
Pitchinkid Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Stay with the Carrots. Best rod available for the money IMHO. I own 8 now and will buy more. I have not used any of Skeets rods.Just held one or 2 at a bait shop. Can not really judge much from that. But im bias, and loyal to carrots, unlike some pros : Quote
jc450r Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I have the crankin stick and have nothing but good things to say about it. I bought the top water rod today so I cant give you any reviews on it yet... Quote
