bigbass49 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I was wondering witch type of baitcaster would be better for a swimbait rod the low profile or the round reels? Quote
Bronzefly Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Much of it depends on personal preference, and the size/weight of the swimbaits you'll be tossing. Everything from a standard 200 sized reel for smaller swimbaits - paddletails, bbz shad, etc. are fine. If you're going to be tossing 10" trout type swimbaits on 30lb line, I'd opt for a larger round reel like the Calcutta TE 400. The curado 300 makes a good mid sized swimbait reel in a LP design. Good luck! Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted January 23, 2010 Super User Posted January 23, 2010 Agreed...but I do fish with a Chronarch 101..but having more line capacity is better. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted January 23, 2010 Super User Posted January 23, 2010 I use a Revo Toro with no problems. Quote
SDoolittle Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I chose a Curado 300 for my swimbait rod because I prefer low profile reels. I haven't used it for any huge lures, but it performs well with the mid-size swimbaits. Quote
bass or bass ? Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I use a Quantum Mantra with no problems. Also, a Pflueger President spinning reel. Quote
Super User David P Posted January 23, 2010 Super User Posted January 23, 2010 For baits under 3oz I used to use a Toro, now I use a Revo Inshore. Works great. For bigger stuff,Ii use a Daiwa Luna 300. Quote
