Matthys Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Ok its pretty hot here and stuff, water is pretty clear, the bass eat worms, bugs, frogs but there is no other fish. The structure is weeds Quote
Davis Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Have you tried Texas rigging some 7" plastic worms weightless just outside the weed lines? Use natural looking colors. Hard to beat a senko type bait wacky rigged or t-rigged. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 18, 2008 Super User Posted January 18, 2008 Well, I suspect there are other fish. Bass need baitfish as forage to survive. Anyhow, I suggest focusing ALL OF YOUR FISHING TIME on just a few lures. I have some specific suggestions in this thread and several other members offer advice: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180501296/0 This is another thread I think you will find helpful: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1182371999 Good luck! 8-) Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted January 18, 2008 Super User Posted January 18, 2008 I suggest finding somewhere else to fish. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted January 18, 2008 Super User Posted January 18, 2008 i suggest fishing it.bass usually survive and multiply.i guarantee there are other species in there also.you nhave no idea how many ponds people tell me there are no fish in and i catch 5 lbers out of. Quote
Jeff C. Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 good Avice RW,, !! With that said.. if the fish have every thing to reproduce.. they will be there for ,, who knows maybe,, for ever.. if the pan fish & bass did not reproduce there then its not the place to fish. I would spend some time around the pond and just see what mite be in there. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 18, 2008 Super User Posted January 18, 2008 Only one way to fidn out, fish it, and fish it a lot. I would also say the best bait for the situation would be a 4" stickbait. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Yeah I'd definetly try a 4-5inch Senko(or a knock off) mainly because its the easiest soft plastic I can think of to fish and it catches fish. Size 2/0 Gamakatsu EWG Hook for 4inch Senko, Size 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG Hook for 5inch. Another thing I'd try is a Stanley Ribbit or a Zoom Horny Toad (Even though I can never get the Horny Toad to run right it works for others) Rig them with a 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG Hook and just slowly retreive them along the top over lillypads, around weed edges, and over/around stickpiles. You can also try a Spinnerbait, White/Chartreuse to be specific. Just cast out around structure and give it a steady retreive in. Last thing I'd recommend is if you know how to fish a Jig, pick a Black/blue or Green/brown Colored jig and rig it with the trailer of your liking and cast it in the thickest stickpiles and through the thickest weeds/pads. That should catch a big boy . Good Luck Quote
Super User Marty Posted January 19, 2008 Super User Posted January 19, 2008 Ok its pretty hot here and stuff, water is pretty clear, the bass eat worms, bugs, frogs but there is no other fish. The structure is weeds 95% of my fishing is done in weedy water and I use a wide variety of bait. Basically, I think you can use anything that won't pick up weeds on every cast. If the weeds are submerged, you can use many different lures fishing over the weed tops. If they come to the surface, then a variety of texas-rigged soft plastics and weedless topwaters are good. It's not pretty hot here. :'( Quote
