Looks like Ikes ganna be fishing abu reels and maybe berkley rods. I dont even think abu comes close to diawa as far as reel imo but hey i guess money talks :;)

At least Mike's getting paid to advertise.  I could never understand why someone would give it away for nothing.

This maybe good for Abu and Berkley. The Skeet Reese Revo is the best reel they have had to date IMO so maybe by listening to Ike and Skeet they can com up with a even better reel. This goes for Berkley also. Let's face it they need some serious help in the rod department. The way I see it the only real loser is Ike but I'm sure for enough money he could fish a tourney with a Zebco 33.

high end ??? , Ike fishes the ''light and tough'' rods alot more than the steez and zillion rods !!! ....

Guess his signature series rods will be on clearance at alot of places and especially on ebay.

He's a good guy and maybe a little crazy at times but seems to be a big boost for Abu

but what reels does he have on them? most of the setups I've seen him fish with have Steez reels on them.

My bet is you will see him fishing Vendetta rods and eventually he will have a signature series reel out as well. My guess is his take on the Premiere.

He went from the best reel maker to the second best.  If he keeps working his way down, say through Pflueger, Bass Pro house brand, Pinnacle, Shakespeare, Quantum, he may eventually become a Shimano man.

he'll never become a "Shimano man" because they don't need to get endorsements from pros to sell reels.  ;D

i was refering to his rod selection , but yeah , he uses steez reels and probably zillions also ..

Kota Kirayama, Morizo Shimizu and Bernie Shultz quickly come to mind.

He uses the Luna 103M quite often and the Sol spinning reel and baitcaster.

Thank you! You got the #1 and #2 mixed up but the rest of the list looks accurate.  ;)

All of these big name reel companies have nice products and I bet he will have some input on product development.Maybe we could even see a magnesium Revo thats around 5 oz.on an even lighter vendetta.

Or better yet he fishes $120-$180 combos and wins angler of the year.Either way he'll certainly catch more big fish on his Abu's than I will,(but i hope to someday be able to get better at that anyway).heck i've not had alot of faith in Quantum but some guy named Kevin does pretty well with them.If I ever got to that level I'd see if i could get a custom Rhino rod and Zebco reel because I started out with them. ;)

Although I haven't fished Steez reels, I prefer my STXs to my Zillions, Fuegos, and SOL any day.  I don't think he's "Down" grading much at all. Although I'm sure the Steez is in a league of it's own, given the price difference.

I don't see why it matters what company any pro goes to,  catching fish has nothing to do with the equipment really.  Every company makes a quality product and everyone has a preference.

even tho Abu doesnt make anything in the same league as a steez, I still think he will catch just as many fish. I know guys with 50 dollar reels that will outfish most people. Rod's probably have a lil more to do with catchin fish but even still, look at skeet reese, his rods are junk and he outfishes everyone. And to even imply that Abu is above shimano is just flat out ignorant.  Daiwa and shimano make all their 170 dollar plus reels in Japan for the most part, Abu charges you 200 bux for a heavy revo that is made in Korea ? Umm ya. Bass pro shops has 100 dollar reels that are made in korea. I am a daiwa man but I know shimano and daiwa are pretty much equal, it's like comparing bmw and mercedes. Different strokes for different folks but plz dont even mention abu in the same breath as daiwa and shimano. Oh and if you really think for a second that KVD's reels are stock then you're crazy, those reels have to be tweaked big time. No reel of that qaulity could stand up to 300+ days of fishing a year like KVD does. Im sure he goes thru new reels all the time but they couldnt be stock.

I think KVD uses stock reels along with stock rods and strike king lures.   He's just afforded cases and cases of all of them and uses them like we use disposable razors.  Probably the same with his nitro boat, he must have a storage yard at his mansion with extras ready to go.

I would rather take less money from Daiwa and fish with a better product than take more money and fish ABU.

Yeah...right...
