Braided lines??

I haven't used braided lines since they first came out. I got back into fishing last year, so I'm wondering how these new braids are. Looking to maybe use some for pitchin/flippin and frogs. Is there much concern for guides and braid now, and how the braid lays on or peels off the reel?

Basically pros and cons of the new braids guys, and maybe some opinions on brands.

most rod manufactures have addressed the braid concerns with better guides and now you really don't have to worry about it . as far as braid choices go , i , myself like SPECTRA braid . i use Power Pro and Izorline braids , both are super strong and last a LONG time !!!! i consider braid mandatory for frog fishing , i use 30# or 40# Power Pro for frogs and 50# or 65# for punching or flipping into heavy cover and for jig fishing ......

I have tried many braids;fireline,suffix,spider wire and so on. The only stuff i use now is Power Pro, it is a lot easier to work with, a lot softer and has a more round diameter.

Is use 50# tuffline for pitch heavy cover.  (Falcon Lake)

Tuff is pretty solid braid.

You can't go wrong using braid. Use any of the name brands and make your own decision.

Compared to monofilaments, the superlines are a lot more manageable and a LOT stronger per diameter.

For spinning applications, there is nothing better. Some brands are better than others for certain applications also. With only two modern materials used in the mfg of the lines (Spectra, Micro Dyneema), the process of turning those into a fishing line varies with line brands, even within the same brand. If you do a search on this site or just about any other site, you will see there are as many  opinions about which is best as there is for monos.

I would suggest you buy at least two different brands that feel the same, or that feel different (check them at any tackle dealer) and form your own opinion.

I've been using superlines since they were first introduced and have tried most of them as new ones are marketed. What I have determined as the "best" has changed as new products have been introduced. Some of the lines that some consider the "best", I consider the worst. Your results may vary.

Been using Power Pro, but just reeled up new reel w/ Berkley Fireline Tracer Braid. Looks pretty good. When weather breaks will try both and see which I like better.

I've used PowerPro, Sufix Braid and Berkley Fireline Braid.

For several years I had only great things to say about PowerPro braid,

but unfortunately we ran into a bad bulk spool of 30-lb test.

My wife and I experienced repeated and inexplicable breakoffs this past spring.

First we blamed ourselves, then after switching to Berkley Fireline Tracer Braid

our breakoff mystery was solved.

Although I'm not a line-watcher, "tracer" braid helps me to see the fine-diameter braid.

I use 30-lb braid (8-lb dia) and have no issues whatsoever with line-twist,

burrowing and so-called wind-knots.

I have been using Berkley Fireline Crystal for years and like it a lot. Prior the finding the Crystal braid i tried everything. my next choice would probably be Spider Wire ultra cast invisibraid.

I've had good success with Power Pro in 40lb and larger.  I prefer Suffix for 30 and under.

I like Ripcord from Cabela's , it is very sensitive and durable.

Well thanks guys, guess I'll just try some of the popular ones and try for myself. Just wanted on heads up on if there was anything to be aware of with modern braids.
