gunnerfish Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 :-/ I use fluorocarbon on crank baits. i would like to know if any knows if the bait runs at max depth with 10 lb or does it run deeper since fluoro sinks. And does anyone know if I can get it shallower by going up in line size. Seems like if the line sinks it would only make the bait run deeper. If you can answer this question what size line per foot to get the bait shallower. Thanks Gunnerfish Quote

Yes, you should because depth varies with line diameter. I think I read where KVD said typically a one-size difference in line is worth approximately one foot of depth. Additionally, you can adjust depth by the angle at which your rod is held. I think Paul Elias famously won a tournament (maybe a Classic) by kneeling and having most of his rod in the water in order to get maximum depth from his crankbait. Quote
