i like the S more than the other models. ive only used the STX, SX, and the S though.

the S to me seems more user friendly. if you keep lure weight over 1/4 oz IMO youll like them all. i had no problems with any of them.

Hated the SX, loved the S, and never used any of the others. The new braking seems to be a good move on their part. The SX was birdnest city for me when throwing anything less than 1/2oz. Maybe I just suck at casting, but I prefer the centrifugal system in the S a lot more.

Have you been using a reel with 6 pin centrifugal brakes? If so, do you use more than 2 in the on position? Do you like the centrifugal brakes. If all 3 are yes, don't get a revo SX. I love my revo SX and STX reels, but I don't care for internal centrifugal brakes and I don't need to use brakes much anyway.

I have 2 STX and an S and just got a Premier...

Havent used the premier yet but i love the STX and S...  no backlashes.. lots of power..  and mechanically sound!

Really like the whole line up. Ive fished with all but only own the S model. At the price, there's no real reason for me to buy any other. It's great and casts a mile!

I have at least one of each and a couple of costom jobs. I fished over 175 days with them last year. The old breaking system really took some getting used to and was my only complaint but the new one is great, easy and good for any skill level. You can't find a better drag system out there. If you need the power to turn a big fish and get him out of thick cover it has it.

Old and new version S reel -

Old version SX -

New version SX -  :-?

Old version STX -  :-X

New dual brake version STX -

The centrifugal brake Revo's were great reels.  Those with only the linear mag braking weren't worth the effort.  Perhaps the new mag braking system will work better.  Those with dual braking will be excellent reels.

I just got an SX, and havent been fishing with it yet, but have spent a few hours toying with it and casting it. It's a precision piece of equipment, and I'll admit, I was all worried about it being out of my league from the other thread. After setting it up and starting out slow, I discovered that this reel's only fault, is that it's so nice! The thing just needs your love, and I swear, she'll throw a lure a country mile, smooth as silk, no backlashes at all. I love it, and I see at least one more in my future.

Old version STX - :-X

I received the SXT as a gift two years ago

and have fished it extensively. I think there

are better alternatives at the pricing point.

I have the Revo S, STX, Premier, and Winch and I love them all. I haven't really had any problems any of them.

SX - Too touchy + uneducated thumb = too many backlashes = sold it.

Gave Abu another try w/PRM - Only made 20 or so casts with 3/8 oz spinnerbait.  Casts great, but jury is still out until I try again with lighter baits & time on the water.

Revo's are by far my favorite palming reels.

I have 7 or 8 STX's and absolutely love them. Nothing compares to them in my mind. The drag alone is incredible.

Number one complaint with the SX is how hard it is to set the cast control knob and magnets. I bought one for my son-in-law and he struggles with it for that very reason.  I bought him the S and adjusted the brakes and  he hasn't had a problem since.  The S is the place to start and if you choose to add another, and can afford one, the STX is a very very fine reel.

I have

1 Revo S

2 Revo SX

2 Revo STX - old model

1 Revo STX - new model ( haven't fished it yet)

The S is the most user friendly, but once you get the SX dialed in you will love it. The high speed model is great. It does take a little time to get used to it, but it won't be long after and you'll be slinging it everywhere.

I have owned and still own many different model Revo's. The SX is the only one I had problems with.

The STX is the king of all Revo's. The Premier is a close second.

I own alot of  s models ,1 sx and  1 winch.   I see no reason to buy more than an s model. Its as good as any reel I ever used at a much lower price.

I've got 3 older STXs, a Winch and a brand new 2010 Premier.

The 3 STXs have been fished hard and I freakin' love these reels.  While the Winch and the new Premier haven't been fished a ton yet, the initial performance has been great.

As a matter of fact, my first trip out with the Premier was last week.  I had one of those magical right bait, right place, right time outings where I caught 15 in about 45 minutes.  All on the new Premier.  I wish I could break in all my new equipment like that :)
