I am wanting to get a rod and reel for my 6 year old nephew, I am wanting something that is a quality outfit that is simple to use and won't frustrate him.  I am looking to make this an enjoyable experience for him so I can have a little fishing buddy.  Wanting something better then a little snoopy rod and reel, anyone have any suggestions?  Hope everyone had a safe and happy new year.  Thanks

A Zebco 33 combo will do it. That has been the top-of-the-line beginner outfit for many generations.

It's the equipment of choice for the B.A.S.S. Casting Kids contests.

I taught my daughters to fish with the Zebcos. Always a combo kit on sale somewhere.

Core 50Mg and a Loomis GLX. If you start with the Zebco 33, he will want to upgrade in the future. :)

Perfect!

Otherwise, Wayne P. is dead on!

I went through several brands of spincasting reels for my grandson and friends who don't fish much and finally settled on the Abumatic. I now have three of them and they have been flawless.

Get an Abumatic combo.
