central.PA.bass Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 what do you want to use the rod for? and i wouldnt go below 7' for a rod. unless you are getting one to skip docks and need a shorter rod.... Quote
Redsyn Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 In that price range I'd definantly look into the powell rods. I dont have one but everyone that has it says great things about it. Or you can look for used rods. Quote
VAfishin4me Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I have to order most of my rods online, but I would suggest you wait and try it on rods. I've got my Fuego on a Shimano Compre I got a while before this sale. The rod is excellent for the price point. I wish I could have gotten another one of these reels, but I couldn't. By the way did you see that they had free overnight shipping? Quote

VAfishin4me Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 i think over nite shipping was for xmas time deliverythey did not offer that to me when i ordered Really, I bought a rod for my Uncle and it gave me free overnight shipping, but it didn't remind me either, I just selected it because it said on the site orders over 100 dollars free overnight shipping until Dec. 31. But, I did order it a bit before X-mas, so who knows. Quote
SWMIBASSER Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Most people say that the Fuego is better suited to heavier baits. So I would team it with a little heavier power rod. You can't beat a 7' MH F or XF rod. The most versatile BC rod you can get IMO. Quote

Boogey Man Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I've got a Fuego and the Premier rod you're asking about. I haven't used them as a combo, but my opinion is the Fuego casts better with a softer rod. The medium Premier is more like a medium-heavy. I use it for single hook lures like T-rigs, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits but would not recommend it for cranks or jerkbaits. Quote
