Just bought a 7 6 crankin rod but what reel are you using.  Cranking 15 to 25 feet.  What gear ratio are you guys using?   Guy at bass pro told me 5.4 to 1 or lower.  This true.

Dixon,

He was right !  If you value your wrists you will run a power gear ratio.  Several manufactures have 4.8 to 5.4 to 1 models. I bought a Revo Winch and love it.  It's great for big spinner baits with large blades too.  Read Tackle Tour's review.

I've always used a 6.3:1. Deep cranking is something I get to do a lot of on Kentucky Lake and I have yet to notice any real fatigue from using that ratio. Maybe I'm still young but I like the faster line pickup. I like being able to really dig my lure in and to also to catch up with a fish if it starts swimming towards the boat.

I got a curado e5 for xmas and I think that it's almost too slow.  I do some deep cranking and would like more of a usable ratio.  just found out that the citica 6.3:1 gear set will work. plus I don't notice too much difference when fishing dd22's between my 5:1 and curado and 6:1 calcuttas
