Loomis Deep Flex Crankbait Rods

Not sure if these have started selling yet, but just wanted to see if anyone has had the opportunity to get their hands on one.  Anyone looking forward to trying them out?  They're supposed to be softer than their other crankbait rods.

I just received the CBR896 Deep Flex a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I won't be able to use it for at least another 3 months. Here are my initial expressions. First, the rear handle is long enough (unlike the handle for the CBR906, which was way too short in my opinion). Second, you can definitely tell it is moderate in action, but it certainly feels like it will have enough backbone for the DT20 and DD22 (plus enough power to pull in any fish that hits it). I think the 1/2 ounce lower end rating is a little high. This thing should easily be able to handle 1/4 ounce and 3/8 ounces lures without feeling overly heavy or stiff. The weight is on par with their other crankbait rods made by G Loomis and I can't report on its sensitivity yet. I assume that will be on par with the other G Loomis crankbait rods as well, which is more than sensitive enough for crankbaits.

That's the one I was looking at.  I'd use it mostly for fishing traps over emerging vegetation in the spring.  Would you say there is a significant difference in action when compared to the 906?  I don't want to end up with two of essentially the same rod.

Definitely more moderate than the 906, but I think it will have enough backbone.  I liked the 906, but couldn't get past how short the rear handle was, so I sold it.  This 896 will be it's replacement and serve the duties my 906 was for (deeper crankbaits and lipless crankbaits).
