I want to venture into the baitcasting rod and reels, id like something cheap under $100.

i already have a 6'6" medium spinning rod and reel, since i already have this set up what are good techniques that are optimal for that set up and then id like recomendations on the baitcasting set up to go from where the spinning set up ends

I got a nice setup there last year.  They usually have the Revo S paired with an Allstar Select for for around 150..   and you know dicks, they always have stuff on sale so im sure you could get one at close to you target price.  The revo S is an awesome first reel!  hardly any backlashes so it'll give you confidence

Check out the Flea Market on this forum. Some really good deals to be had and you can buy with confidence. I've made a fe deals there and haven't been disappointed. The ABU Revo S is a forgiving yet quality reel to learn on.

Along those lines, just today I received another BPS Pro Qualifier baitcaster reel that I bought on eBay for $40 shipped - smooth, as good as new, dual braking. I'm pairing it with an Extreme rod that I got at the $59 price. PQ+Extreme=$99. Of course, there is some risk in buying used reels on eBay...

what do you guys think of the abu garcia silver max combo?

or the okuma reflexions rod seems to be nicely specd if i get this im considering pairing it with a pinnacle solene or inertia finesse reel

Silver Max combo did me well for about a year, when the anti reverse in the reel went bad. I'd be inclined to get something a little higher end right off the bat. By the time it stopped working for me, I was ready for some higher quality equipment anyway.

well, the reason i say the Abu 4600 series is 2 things:

there will be parts for the things for a long long time.

99.9% of the world service the reel, including Reel Mechanic.

Yep - I knew that was the reason for the recommendation. My recommendation was based on the dual braking feature of the PQ reel - something easier for someone new to baitcasters to learn on.

Regarding the potential melt-down of BPS reels, in essence, I just bought every spare part on the reel for $40 shipped ;) Since I now have 4 of these, and plan on having several more, I'm not concerned about spares ...

since i hear some people complaining about the reels in the extreme rods there have a combo of a daiwa megaforce reel with the bps bionic blade combo, for only $10 more and im considering that combo, how are the bps bioninc blades?

so far what is catching my eye is this

or the bps extreme combo

what about the pinnacle reels are they any good? it seems i should just go ahead and get a good rood with a decent reel and upgrade the reel once it fails.

so im definetely looking at the xps extreme they have on sale

since i have a 6'6" medium spinning combo im thinking about getting a 7' MH fast combo, would this be a wood all arounder set up?

also im not sure what gearing would be best for me, im am a noob.....lol...

im thinking the 6.4 might be good or should i stick to the standard 5.4 or maybe get the faster 7.1?

hey guys i need you insights on the reel gearing since apparently the estrem rod sale ends tomorrow and i want o place this order today

6.3:1, 6.2:1 or 6.4:1 are all good choices for an all around baitcaster. The lower revolution real is better for crankin such as 5.1:1. Sometimes it might be good on a slowly rolled spinnerbait. I think Pinnacle gives you the best bang for the buck. I've got 2  of them which I still use even though they are getting worn after 3 years, but hey for 30-50 bucks at Walmart, how can you lose. They have a deal right now on there top of the line baitcaster which normally retails for 150 down to 90 bucks. Pretty good hardware for that price. MH is probably a good choice for an all around rod, but it depends on the brand. They vary quite a bit in designation. vs feel. You really can't do everything well with one stick. As you get further into bassin you'll realize this and have to gear up and spend more. You'll at least want a worming/jig rod - a cranking rod - a finesse rod.

well im mostly a T-rig guy thats my go to riht for pretty much any appilcation and the kind of fishing i do, i already have a medium spinning set up that i use for worming, i want the all around baitcaster to venture into other techniques but basically it still needs to be a good worming rod just i case i decide to leave the spinner at home and just walk around with one rod
