Reel Gear Ratio Question

I'm looking to purchase a new reel in the near future, When all is said and done I will have a topwater rod and a jig rod, and my question is what should I be looking for? I have a Citica 200e already, Which rod would that suit better? Is a 7:1 the preferred ratio for jigs/t rig rods and topwaters too? Is that what I should be looking for in my next reel? The 7:1 ratio is good for presentations that don't use the reel for the retrieval of the lure, but only take up slack when the lure is worked with the rod. They are also used for low resistant lures such as lipless crankbaits.

This reel will fit the bill. I prefer a 7:1 for Jig and T-Rig presentations. As far as Topwater it will work as well as most of the time you will be taking up slack.

Anyone else? I'm going to make my order soon and cant decide between getting the cheaper fugeo with the 6:3:1 ratio, or just throwing out the other 40 or so dollars to get a curado e5 or e7... Should I skip the fuego and get the curado e7 because I will get better use out of the 7:1 ratio?  I already own a citica 200e and already dont know what to use it for, I cant decided if its a good idea to get another 6:3:1 or not

Fuego takes up 28" PT, Curado 30''.....2'' per crank difference.  Both are good reels, the Fuego is a steal at the price.

I did some tests for the IPT on my Curado 200E7 and Fuego. My Curado 200E7 gets around 28 IPT with a maxed out spool (not the 30 IPT that they report) and the Fuego gets 28 IPT with a maxed out spool (they say it gets 28 IPT). So in the end, you will get the same line pick from either one (independent of what they say the gear ratio is)

the lines between most 6:1 reels and 7:1 reels are blurred with a lot of marketing.

the curado and the fuego (and the citica) are solid reels...either will suit your purpose.

Being that you need to set the hook before a Bass spits a jig out of its mouth,yeah that faster 7.1:1 really does make a difference. Don't worry about fast retrieves when throwing topwater.

That quick reel also helps get a bass away from whatever there may be to get tangled up in faster.
