So? I need to hear what other people like to use, so I can get a better idea of what's a good choice.

What length and action? Brand?

Thanks!

Depends on what size a where.

I use

7'H Kistler Magnesium for 1/2oz and under

705 7'Mag-H Powell for larger jigs in light cover

766 7'6"H Powell for heavy cover

I forgot about smaller jigs

7'M Daiwa Zillion and 7'MH Damiki Dark Angel for jigs 1/4oz and smaller

I used an old school Falcon Lowrider (non XG-brownish colored blank) for a long time. 7' MH

Switched to a BPS Elite. 7'6 MH XF. This rod is really light and super sensitive. I don't like how long the handle is. It would be perfect for me if the handle was shortened a few inches.

Due to the shorter length my jig rod next year will be a BCR 853 Mossyback Loomis... 7'1 MH XF.

I don't use the heavy sticks many do, and end up using 3/8oz jigs the most....Sometimes deep water drag with 1/2oz-3/4 oz jigs.

I NEVER flip. Water is to clear up here to flip successfully....Pitch alot. Swim jigs, and drag footballs. A MH rod is perfect for me.

A few more general ideas of mine.

Rod needs to be sensitive so you can feel what the jig is doing. For pitching a shorter handle works much better as a long handle can be cumbersome, and catch on clothes etc.

Needs to be balanced very well. My definition of balanced may be different. I use those hideous BPS slip on balancers to balance the rod just right.

Light. Because of the way you hold the rod, and work the jig, a heavy rod when jigging will produce much more wear and tear on the fisherman than a heavy crankbait or spinnerbait rod.

The rod power I use depends on weight of the jig and the type and ammount of cover I 'm going to fish, so I may use a M rod all the way up to a ExHeavy. Action Fast or ExFast.

for ex:

Light jig ( 1/8 oz ) /little cover ---> medium power

All-around: 6 1/2' or 7' MHF

Then it depends on what you want to spend.

My main three rods are G. Loomis MBR844C,

BCR854 and St. Croix Legend Elite EC70MHF.

For lighter jigs, Dobyns Champion 683C.

I use spinning tackle for hair jigs when fishing

for smallmouth: St. Croix Legend Elite ES70MF.

There are many choices.

Dobyns champion extreme 784ML...!  This is the best jig rod I've ever used hands down. It is mike long signature jig rod. It took me a second to get used to the extra length but now I couldn't go back to a shorter rod. The extra length really helps pick up extra line and the tip is really sensative.  8-)

I use 2 combos for my jig fishing.

My finnesse set up is a Loomis BCR 852 Mossyback 7'1" rod rated for 1/8-3/8 oz jigs. I use the downsized Curado 101D LH reel spooled with 10 lb Trilene Florocarbon. I fish the Kietech Model 1 casting jig or a Model 2 football jig with a thinned out/ minimal weedguard.

Most of my regular sized jigs I fish with a Loomis MBR 844C  7' Heavy rod with a 201D LH Curado spooled with 17 lb Floro. This has combo has put a lot of 5 & 6 lbers in the boat.
