mozy Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I would have to go with a baitcasting setup. This combo should handle almost anything I would want to do with it, with the exception of large swimbaits. St. Croix Legend Extreme 7'MHF Daiwa Steez 12# Pline Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 10, 2009 Super User Posted December 10, 2009 This will sound nuts, but if I had to use just one rod and reel, I'd pick any decent 3000 series reel, and very nice MH/Mod. fast rod. I'd also have six or seven spare spools with various line choices. This set up would allow me to fish everything from light baits, to cranks, to frogs, to jigs, to whatever. It wouldn't be the best, but it would actually work for most everything in my tackle bag and allow me to fish any line from 4lb. fluoro to 40lb. braid. Quote

Fat-G Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 Mine would be BCR854 GLX paired up with a Curado 200e7, spooled with 12# Yo-Zuri. Never handled any of these items, but with the reputation of Loomis's I can tell I would like that particular rod, and I already love my Citica, so why wouldn't I love an even nicer reel? Now I'll open up the thread to a spinning AND casting combo. My spinning would be a Crucial CRS-X68M paired with a Sustain 2500, 6# Yo-Zuri. Quote

Bronzefly Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 If I had to pick JUST ONE, I think i'd crawl under a rock from all the stress! ;D Practically speaking, I'd say a Loomis MBR 843 GLX, Daiwa TD-Z 103H (of some form) and 12lb P-Line CXX would cover a HUGE spectrum. Quote
Fat-G Posted December 12, 2009 Author Posted December 12, 2009 I said a Crucial, but I just saw a Damiki Dark Dark Angel 7' MXF with a Stratic c14, and it was very cute.... ....I might have blushed a bit ;D Quote

But this is ONLY if I have to pick 1 setup, otherwise I will definitely have several Steez combos with me. I had a VERY hard time choosing just one. MBR852 came in very, very close 2nd behind the GLX BCR853. But it would be with the Calcutta 50GT Quote
