When you say, "How good are they?  Are they worth it", you need to specify what level of Loomis rods.

GLX, IMX, GL3, etc...

The GLX is the cadillac, one of the best rods you will ever fish with except for maybe a steez rod and that is simply a matter of preference.  I like and own both.

The IMX is a great rod for the money, Ive only fished with one once and it is compared to a GLX like a buick campared to a cadillac.

The other types GL3, etc... are probably ok, never fished them but I think others will tell you there might be better value in that price range with other rods.

The Loomis warranty  is second to none, if the rod ever breaks due to a flaw they will replace it, just send the rod & $20 to Loomis and they will send you a new rod.  If you break the rod, for  example I grabbed the tip of one of my GLX's and snapped it off.  I used their "Xpeditor" service and sent the rod & $65 to Loomis.  I received a NEW rod in 2 days.  I could have paid $50 and received a new rod in a week.  No questions asked.

If you buy a G Loomis rod (GLX or IMX) I don't think you will ever regret it.

The IMX series is where G. Loomis really shines.

GLX is a series that stands alone, at least in the

domestic market. Is the additional cost worth it?

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how important

another $100 is to you.

To expand on Steezy's comments, unless you lose

your Loomis, you have a rod for a lifetime! Their

customer service is second to none.

They are legendary for a reason... they are that good.  They aren't the "sexiest" rods out on the market, but for day in and day out performance, it doesn't get much better.  I agree with the other comments - they really shine at the IMX and GLX level.  Don't overlook the technique specific series either - there are some absolutely fantastic sticks in that lineup.

The rods I fish with have an over the counter lifetime warranty where purchased, exchanged with in minutes, no receipt needed Any where from mfg defect to being a clumsy oaf, no questions asked. I have stepped on the guides and bent them a few times, new rod no hassle. Great rods too!

They are not Loomis, but I would buy one.

Mind sharing what kind of rods they are? haha  :)

My thoughts...First off you pay dearly for the superior warranty. Lifetime means you have a rod for life. Period.

I've not used the IMX/GLX. Only technique specific.

While the technique specific rods (Shakey Head, and Mossyback for example) aren't the lightest or most sensitive, they do rank pretty high.

For me the biggest advantage to Loomis aside from the warranty is a selection of lengths and actions, to fit your style and technique exactly. And when compared to other off the shelf rods, their is no comparison. Their selection is second to none.

I also like the fact that many Loomis rods when compared to similarly rated rod from other companies are faster....An XF from Loomis IS XF but an XF from others is like a F from Loomis.

Search the flea market. While not the blingest Loomis made I just got a Mossyback BCR 853 for $160 including shipping and it's like new.

i agree with some of the posts above. get imx or glx. the sensitivity, weight and warranty make loomis worth the price to me. take your time and find them for 30% off.

GL2, GL3...no.  There are better rods at their price points.

IMX, GLX...heck yes.

The BCR GLX, or the jig and worm series, are just crazy sensitive.  And this is coming from a St. Croix guy.

agreed. the bcr glx series and braid is equivalent to having a camera on the end of your rod.

Off topic: Boca, Nice palm tat.

Pretty sure that's Jesse James' hand (West Coast Choppers).
