Kowen117 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 has any one used these reels before? I was looking into these reels and was wondering how they are for flipping. Also i saw these in camo and was trying to find a place that sells the camo one but cant find it anyone now where i can get it Quote
central.PA.bass Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 i dont think you can buy the camo ones yet.. keep checking tackle warehouse though because im sure they'll have them sometime Quote
NorCalFishinguru Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Ardent reels in general are bulky, ugly, and heavy imo. Id go with some other reel that could serve as a better pitching reel but not be limited only to that one techique due to the otherwise impractical design. Quote

MarauderYak Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I've used a F500 a couple of times. It takes a little getting used to. You thumb the spool itself instead of the line. I actually got to where I sort of like that though. I'd say my only complaint was pitching distance. Even with the reel as free as I could get it I could pitch further with both my Johnny Morris, and my old Curado. But I could see someone wanting the reel if they did a lot of short pitching into heavy cover. It's just not a reel I'd buy for myself. Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 9, 2009 Super User Posted December 9, 2009 You can flip with practically any reel, so you don 't "need" a flipping reel, pitching is different than flipping, you 'll need a good reel with a spool that spools freely to achieve more distance, now if what you want is a multipurpose reel that allows you to flip, pitch and cast there 's such a beast ---> Shimano Castaic or if you got the extra dough then a Core 100MGFV.
