anybody recommend the shimano citica?

read some good reviews about it an want to know if it'd be paired well with a Vendetta rod?

thanks

I don't know about the Vendetta rod, but I think the Citica E is a "best value" reel for sure.  It's well made and packs a ton of performance into a reel at its price point.

The Citica is a great reel, but I think a Shimano reel on a Abu Garcia rod is just wrong  :) But thats just me, I would'nt put a Revo on a Cumara either.

I can't speak for the Revo SX or Vendetta, but I did have a Revo S that I sold after getting a Citica. For the price, I don't think you can beat the Citica.

I'll let you mess around with my Citica next time we hang out to see how you like it.

Oh that's just wrong. You should never let another man handle your "equipment". ;D :)

Hahaha I knew once I posted that someone would take that the opposite direction.

The Citica has done me well this past season... And to show my appreciation I had its Drive shaft upgraded with a bearing and added a Core 100mgfv crank...

All done by The Reel Mechanic... :)

parden me for askin, what'd that upgrade run ya?

I think it's a swingin reel right out of the box.  but yeah that spool bearing does smooth it out a little and its an inexpensive upgrade.  handles can be kind of high and certain ones are hard to come by from shimano lately.  seems like the citica upgrade bug has bitten a many of fishermen. a couple of upgrades might put you in the realm of a curado.

Hmm...

The Citica is a great reel, but if you want to upgrade,

buy a Curado 200E7.

8-)

56 bones total for the upgrade.. It is now the Citica that "thinks" its a Curado...It at least cost the same as one.:)

My next reel purchase will be the Curado 201E7 :)
