Has anyone tried this type of braid, blackwater or other?  I hear through the grapevine that PP is coming out with some.  I'm curious about the flouro "chinese finger" connection...sounds nice and easy.  I'm also curious as to the cast ability.

Much appreciated...

This type of connection has been used in saltwater applications for a long time. Castability is far superior to a knotted connection. I have been playing with it for bass applications for a couple of months and I really like it.

It takes a little more time to make the connection so I just make a bunch of wind on leaders. Make a loop in the hollow core braided line and then use a simple loop to loop connection to replace leaders. I do not see myself going back to tying knots to connect my leader to the braid ever again.

Thanks Bantam1. I'm new to using braid, but have been using braid to fluoro via a alberto connection...not bad, but I'd love to be able to use something stronger and easier to apply. At the risk of sounding simple, do you think you could point me to a vid or pic that would explain what you mean by loop to loop connection, braid to fluoro? I'm really interested in hearing more about what PP is coming up with regarding this, as I'm sure castability is a huge advantage.

Again,

thanks for the time,

Randy

Here's a video on Youtube showing how to make the leader or to connect Flouro to Hollow Core:

I tried to find a link showing how to make the loop but was unsuccessful. We will have a video showing how to do everything once the product has been released. It is really simple to do.

Here's how you do the loop to loop. Sorry its in Japanese but it's all I have right now.

Wow...very cool of you Bantam1. And you like this loop to loop connection for casting? With the new 16 strand you guys have coming out, is it really that difficult to "chinese finger" the connection? I'm really looking forward to checking out the new stuff.

After watching that vid, I'm curious, is it really necessary to nail not the two at interface, or is the insertion of about 2-3 feet strong enough?

Have you ever used this on less that 65lb PP?  When will we see this hollow PP for sale?

I use this type of connection for flyfishing and it works great - even for big fish in saltwater. Never done it with Powerpro though - only braided mono. You definitely do need a nail knot to secure the end of the overlap. The nail knot doesn't increase the strength of the knot at all.  It just secures the overlap from working loose when it's not under tension.  When it's under tension, the braid should lock up tight to the floro.

Also I completely concur with how you do your loop-to-loop. Double looping is way better and smoother than a single loop.

Again being the simpleton, how do you secure a loop on either...leader and braid?  I'm guessing you splice a loop in the braid, but how the loop in the leader?  And, can I manage the same type of loop in the end of my 50lbs solid braid?
