Flouro question

What are you guys favorite fluoro? I have never used it. I am thinking of trying it. I have my eye on Fireline, is it any good. Likes and dislikes will be helpful. Thanks.

the only two i tried was 10# seagar carbon pro dont care for it as the main line. it does seems like a strong line though. i also tried that spiderwire flouro it was my first brand. though i never caught any fish on it cause i barely used the reel and change line out when my brother used it. i did wanted to try the suffix brand. but im just going back to flouro as a leader using the not sure of number size but the smallest spro swivel. i think its 35 lb test and them things a very tiny.

I've had good results this year from the Berkley 100% Trilene FC in both 17lb and 8lb test.  I've used Gamma Edge in 10lb for some time and really liked it as well.  The BPS XPS FC is also a good line for a less expensive option.

Sea Guar Invizx, in 6# test, for drop shotting. I have not tried a limper (Which is what I want in my line) line.

I have also tried the Cabela's house brand in the same test. Not too bad, and at $9.99 for 200 yards, that's a great deal when Invizx is more expensive.

Last year I went through many different brands of Flouro and what works for me is Seaguar red label. It's I believe the cheapest of the Seaguar line and I have nothing bad to say about it.

Fireline is not a flourocarbon, there are 2 types of Fireline, one is the orginal fused, the other is braided, and other than that I don't know much about Fireline because I don't use it.

As to your original question, I have used Bass Pro Shops XPS, Berkley Vanish, Berkley Trilene 100% Flouro., Seaguar Carbon pro, and Triple Fish flourocarbon.

I like Trilene 100% the best, and it's all I use now. XPS is also a good line, and I can't really complain about Vanish or Carbon Pro either. I know alot of guys hate Vanish, but I have not had any trouble with it. I hated the Triple fish. Weak knots, no abrasion or shock resistance, and unmanageable.

Trilene 100% offers the best compromise between the traits I look for in Flourcarbon. IMHO it's the strongest line of the bunch, but it's also the thickest in diameter as well (exp. 6lb Trilene = 8lb Vsnish in diameter). Ties and holds knots far better than Vanish and Carbon Pro, has more stretch than XPS, but also more abrasion resistance, and seems to be middle of the road as far as managability. Zero issues on casting equipment, I wish it was a little limper on spinning gear, but it handles fine.

Based on that last post, I read and personally experienced also that if you tie the Eugene Bend knot with fluorocarbon then you get far less slips or failures of the knot. I use the Vanish Transitions currently which is the only flurocarbon I've tried. I used it successfully all year and didn't have one single knot failure using the Eugene knot. Just a tip to add to this discussion is all. Also I didn't have any issues with the line either except that I thought I was paying a bit more for it over regular Vanish due to the transitioning color of the line, which is a feature I found to be completely useless except for just looking cool and that's all. I thought it was supposed to make seeing the line above water much easier. Turns out it didn't help any at all. But the line is smooth casting, no problems with it, it's managable, strong to the point of being hard to break even when you want it to, and much more sensitive than mono. I used the 12  and 14 pound lines on baitcasting equipment.
