uicdent11 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Just wondering what reel covers you all use for low profile baitcasters and 2500 size spinning reels. I have a couple bass pro brand, but wondering what else is out there. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 30, 2009 Super User Posted November 30, 2009 I use THESE. 4 reel covers + 4 rod covers for $15 Quote
-nick- Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I use THESE. 4 reel covers + 4 rod covers for $15 That's a great deal thanks for sharing! Are the baitcasting ones only for round reels or will it still fit the low profiles? I have a couple BPS brand but they can't be on the rod so it never gets used except probably this winter to store it. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 30, 2009 Super User Posted November 30, 2009 The might fit smaller round reels but they are best on low profiles. They will fit on the reel while it's mounted on the rod. Quote
uicdent11 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 Awesome deal! Do you know if the baitcasting ones will fit left handed reels? I understand that the ring will be on the back, but wondering if it will compromise the fit. Quote

uicdent11 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 Do you leave the metal ring on your clip it off? Quote
dave Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I use the neoprene covers from Bass Pro. Quote

uicdent11 Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 Sorry, what I meant to say was: "Do you leave the metal ring on the cover or do you clip it off?" It would be facing the wrong way and would seem pointless on a LH reel. Just wondering. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 1, 2009 Super User Posted December 1, 2009 oh, I just left them on there. Quote

Super User Raul Posted December 1, 2009 Super User Posted December 1, 2009 For my Shimano reels ---> Shimano neoprene reel covers For my Daiwa reels ---> Daiwa neoprene reel covers But a friend of mine just purchased these for his BCs and they are really nice: Quote
b.Lee Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Awesome deal! Do you know if the baitcasting ones will fit left handed reels? I understand that the ring will be on the back, but wondering if it will compromise the fit. You can just flip the cover inside out and it should fit as if it were made for it. Most covers have logos on both sides. At least my shimano one is made in that fashion Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted December 1, 2009 Super User Posted December 1, 2009 i use my rod locker. i had reel covers but over time it seemed like they were used less and less. Quote

You need to leave a little bit of slack in the line, put the cover in place, and take up the slack in the line. Quote

hammer84 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered the cabels covers. Quote
Redsyn Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 If you have left hand retrieve reels DO NOT get the daiwa reel covers. They dont fit right. the shimano reel covers are ok but the material is thin. Try to look for some pro gear reel covers in the small size. I know they are for small conventional reels but they fit perfectly for my alphas ito to my cardiff 301 and also can fit my calcutta 401. Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Thanks for the pointers here, I asked Santa for a few in my stocking. What I did notice that the daiwa cover at TW seems to sitting on a Revo ;D Quote
