The last step in setting up my new tube rig is the line.  I have never used Yo-Zuri Hybrid, but I know many here like it so I thought I would give it a try on one of the spools.

I have a couple of questions.  Seems that breaking strength is higher than the rating, so do you go down a size from what you would normally use?  I am going to put it on a Certate 2000 and would normally use 6 #.  What is the difference between the regular and Ultra Soft?  Cabelas has green on sale - or would you stick with clear?

first of all, MANY lines break at higher than rated. if you normally use 6#, stick with 6# yo-zuri hybrid.

the diff between regular and ultra soft is regular has more fluorocarbon in its mixture while ultra soft has more nylon. therefore, regular doesn't float or stretch as much but is stiffer.

I get where you are coming from as far as downsizing is concerned. However it already carries a smaller diameter than other lines. I would stick with 6lb.

I downsized from 8 to 6, but I just can't make myself go lower than 6. Regardless of the actual breaking strength.

According to the Yo Zuri Chart (that is in the web site) the breaking average of 4# is 8.5 lbs and for 6# is 11.9 more than twice and almost the twice in those lines, the thing is that the mention on the site is for Hybrid I don't know if are the same values for the Ultra Soft.

I use 6# Ultra Soft on my spinning outfits. Works fine, but haven't landed an 8 or 9 lb'er with it yet. It 's fine for your average 3-4 lb. bass though. Don't get it wrapped or it will break. I tried 10# Ultra soft but wasn't as pleased. It seemed to not cast as well and was binding across the line guides on the rod more. I was trying it on a Shimano Sahara 2500 on a Med/Hvy Conolon rod.

The 10# is great for my 100 size bait casters however.
