Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted November 22, 2009 Super User Posted November 22, 2009 talked to the shimano guys today and found out that the 16 strand line that is supposed to come out is a ''hollow '' braid , primarily used for salt water fishing by using a leader , knotless ( inserting the leader into the hollow braid , not a easy or fun task ) so i guess no really big changes for the power pro we use for bass fishing . i will continue to still use it , love the stuff , was looking foward to a little smoother line cause of the 16 strands , but i got the real deal from shimano today ..... :) Quote
dave Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Hopefully Bantam1 will be around Monday to explain. Quote
The Rooster Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Is there a braid out there that's smoother than the current Power Pro?? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted November 22, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted November 22, 2009 I think that's been answered a few times before. I suggest trying a search to see what you can find. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?action=search Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted November 23, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted November 23, 2009 Everybody has their favorites. Suffice to say, there's no need to list them all. Quote
Bantam1 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 The hollow works very well even for freshwater. Attaching leaders is much easier and the stuff casts better than anything else I have used before. Its good stuff but it will only be in 40+ pound strengths for now. We are still working on some other stuff. I have been using the new line for a few months now and I love it. Eventually I think the knotless connection will catch on in freshwater like it has in the salt. It casts better and there is no knot to fail. Its also very easy to rig. Someone here is dumb and was not supposed to talk about the new product that will not be released until next year. Oh well too late now... Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted November 23, 2009 Super User Posted November 23, 2009 Bantam 1 I am looking forward to trying braid this spring and like the idea of a knotless leader connection. I am not currently a member of the Shimano posse, but I can be persuaded. I volunteer my services to be part of the pre-release testing team. ;D Quote

Super User bilgerat Posted November 25, 2009 Super User Posted November 25, 2009 So, the concept for the knotless leader is that the leader goes inside of the braid ala the "Chinese Finger Trap" ? The more you pull on the leader the tighter the grip ? Quote

Big Tom Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 That's amazing. How well does the whole knot-less thing really work though? Quote
Big Tom Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Does the line ever just fall out? Or is it pretty fail safe? Quote
