bigtimfish Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I use a Daiwa Magforce as a senko reel. Until recently it started giving me problems. The twitching bar clicks up and down on retrieve by itself. It still works, but it's super annoying. Anyway I am thinking of getting either an orra sx, revo s, or another revo sx. I was just wondering what reels you guys use for senkos. I don't really need recommendations I just want to know the reels ya'll use. Quote
Sherlock 60 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 About 3 or 4 years ago I started using MH spinning gear with 20/6 Power Pro braid for Senkos and all soft plastics (Gary Yamamoto suggested this in an article on Senko fishing). I use a Shimano Symetre reel, but am considering the Abu Soron STX for next year. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 21, 2009 Super User Posted November 21, 2009 I don't have a Senko dedicated reel, but may use a Calcutta, Chronarch, Curado, BPS Extreme, Quantum Pro , Ambassadeur 4600, Revo SX, Abu Silver Max, or any of the others I have depending on which is not being used for some other presentation. SWMIBASSER Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I have been fishing weightless 3.5" senko's wacky style all summer on a 6'6MH Falcon rod, and a BPS Pro Lite Finesse baitcaster. The reel really is perfect for finesse applications or other light weight presentations. Quote
SAC2 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I actually use a pflueger supreme xt spinning reel. i feel like fishing lures like senkos with a casting rod it too difficult. I also like ifshing light line and actually fighting te fish instead of horsing them in Quote

Bigs Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 if you use real yamasenkos they will get torn up fast using the average baitcaster unless you have something like a steez , sol, or daiwa pixy that will cast light stuff with ease. Using a spinning reel seems to put less torque on the worm when your casting it. I was using one of my zillions to throw senkos but now I use my sol spinning reel . That zillion seems to tear them up before long. You cant go wrong with a decent spinning reel to throw senkos. I think the rod is more important to consider then the reel when it comes to senkos. I use my 7'2 crucial drop shot rod. Just my 2 cents. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 23, 2009 Super User Posted November 23, 2009 My preference for a weightless presentation is spinning gear, Shimano 2500 series reel. Specifically: St. Croix Legend Elite ES70MF/ Shimano Stella 2500FD/ #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid/ Gamakatsu 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook. 8-) Quote

If I decide to upgrade the 200E7 on that rod, then it's next stop will be for sale and you'll be the first person I contact. Quote
