Rod Power - Carrot Stix - Help

Im going to be buying a carrot stix for jigs. Pitching / Flipping

Im tossed up on which one to buy.

These are the three im considering and the concerns i have At the moment I can't afford a rod for each pitch and flip so..

-It will be used for heavy cover and docks and such.

CLTX-701MH-F-C - 7ft MH F (Worried it wont hold up good in the grass?)

CLTX-701XH-F-C - 7ft XH F (When not in grass I would mostly be using lighter jigs than the rod weight recommends - Does this really matter?)

CLTX-761H-F-C - 7'6" H F (Don't think i could deal with a rod this long, storage wise and all)

Im really thinking the xh, f rod would be my best choice.. Any opinions?

i have the 7' XH , and if you get that rod you will love it !!! the tip is rated ''fast'' and is pretty stiff , i like it that way , this is a great flipping rod , super light and is great for pitching and punching mats all day ...... btw , i don't care what they say about carrot stix , you shouldn't either , they are great rods and believe me , i have put my rod to the test many a time and it has held up like a champ !!!!!

Sounds like you are looking for the same type of jig rod I was looking for last year.

Since I too can't justify spending like some of these other guys, I had to find ONE. that would handle all of my jig fishing.

I don't know where you are from or where you fish, but for me, buying a flipping stick made no sense at all. When you consider all the jig fishing you can/will do, flipping is done just a small percentage of time. And where I'm from it might very from a few times/places a year to NEVER.

I wanted a longer rod for making long casts with heavy football heads for dragging isolated rock piles, and deep points and humps. Also would help move more line on the hookset.

Unfortunately I didn't want a long rod for pitching as I think the 7ft rod is more maneuverable while pitching. However if you buy a rod light enough the 7'6 rod isn't so bad. A handle balancing weight helps also.

I went with a 7'6 MH with XF tip. While not a Carrot stix I really think this is the best all around jig rod. Light for flipping, yes, but who cares? (probably some ;D)

Storage is a problem for me too. Doesn't fit in rod boxes of smaller boats, or in the inside of some vehicles.

If this size won't fit in your rod box you could always carry it inside your vehicle while in transit, and then on the water strap it down to the deck.

CLTX-701XH-F-C - 7ft XH F gets my vote! that is a bad @ss rod IMHO.

x3 on the CLTX701XH-C.  I bought the XH when it was being cleared out for only $100 at a local dealer.  Initially, I was worried about all the feedback but after my first season fishing this rod, I was not disappointed.  It is very light but also versatile.  I have used it for jigs and also tossing bigger crankbaits.    I have caught large bass and pike on this rod and it handled everything nicely.  I highly recommend the rod.
