For those of you that have these rods, how does it compare to a St Croix Legend Tournament and/or Legend Elite? I would like to add 2 new rods to my collection this winter, I love my St Croix LT's but am less than crazy about the split grips on the new ones, and I have not had any luck finding good reasonably priced used LT's with the full rear+forgrip.  Both would be used as Jig, Senko, and/or Worm rods.

The G.Loomis IMX and St. Croix Legend Elite series

are very comparable. Although my MBR844C is GLX,

I owned the same IMX rod. I also own a MBR842C,

BCR854, St. Croix ES70MF and EC70MHF.

My recommendations are the G.Loomis MBR 843 & 844.

The MBR844 is my favorite rod.

The 843 and 844 are extremely versatile rods... not to mention really sweet.  They will feel different than the St. Croix rods you are used to but that's why I use both blanks.  The Loomis blanks will feel delicate in the tip by comparison but still lock up as a MB should.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy those, if I were buying factory rods.

I am pretty sure I am going to go with the MBR843C and the MBR844C over any more St Croix's, now the hard part IMX vs GLX ? I can't find any info on what guides are used on either rod.

The guides might be the same. The blanks, I think,

incorporate different resins. If you are willing to

spend the $ for a LITTLE more sensitivity, go with

the GLX. If you buy the IMX and you can afford the

GLX, you will always wish you had stepped up.

I'm not like some of the mods on here.  I am a poor boy.  I have both the 844 and 843 in the IMX version.  I would only trade them for a new sonar or trolling motor. ;D

Thanks guys, now the waivering begins, I'll probably make up my mind and then change it no less than ten times between now and when I pull the trigger  ;), But at least I know what reels I want to get a new Chronarch D, or maybe a Revo Premier, or a Zillion, or a Core. LOL  but seriously, I know Raul has said he can't feel much diff. between IMX or GLX, does anyone else feel this way, or actually the opposite, that there's a noticable difference. I know it's apples to oranges, but I wonder if this kind of like the Avid vs. Leg. Tourny. thing I have with St Croix. I can not for the life of me detect a great difference between the two in sensitivty, weight yes.........but only slightly.

The difference is subtle and you pay quite

a lot for that extra .05, but if you have the

wallet, get the GLX. I have purchased a few

this year from members on our Flea Market

for around $250 delivered. Steezy and Bronzefly

have some GLX offered at $240, but not your

models. Be patient, the MBR 843 and 844 are

very popular and will show up for sale.
