YeahSure Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Hello everyone, The other day I went to cast a crankbait and it caught the rod tip of my new shimano crucial rod and completly destroyed the tip guide, bent it all out of place and everything. I'm currently waiting to see if this is covered in the warranty and can be fixed but if it is not what does everyone recommend I do? Is my pole toast? Will it ever be as good as it was if I get someone to swap the guide out? Any help would be apprecaited Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 Replace the guide with another one. "It's so easy, even a cave man can do it." Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 Call Shimano, they should be able to provide you with a replacement kit. I whacked the tip of a St. Croix on a rock, breaking the ring. I called, and it was like $5 for a replacement kit. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 How it's done: http://www.fishbuzz.tv/?channel=is07&videofile=fishbuzz/insidesportfishing/is07_4 You just have to get the tip with the right ring size (where the line goes thru) and tube size (where it fits on the rod) along with the correct ring material and frame color. Super User SirSnookalot Posted November 8, 2009 Super User Posted November 8, 2009 Any tackle and bait shop can replace the tip for 5 bux in less than 5 minutes. No need to fiddle with warranty, packaging and shipping, or even waiting for a tip to be delivered by mail. Different story if the tip of rod itself is broken. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted November 8, 2009 Super User Posted November 8, 2009 Here is a print article on rod tip repair , or as SirSnookalot stated it can be done quickly by most quality tackle shops.. Tight Lines!!! Quote
