Kowen117 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 i have a 7'6 medium heavy rod and was wonderin what reel to put on it Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted October 28, 2009 Super User Posted October 28, 2009 depends on what kind of fishing you do and what kind of reel you want, any reel can be used for flipping, it's really just an approach but is usually associated with heavy cover, in which case a MH might not cut it. I would suggest a high gear ratio with a high IPT rating. If you're looking for a flipping switch I would say don't worry with it but the new accurist has one. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted October 28, 2009 Super User Posted October 28, 2009 x2 on every thing he said (bigrickrolled) !! your medium heavy is good for light cover pitching but for punching mats , i would suggest you get a heavy powered , fast action rod . the 7'6'' rod you have will suffice but if you flip and punch mats alot , you might make an up grade to the previously mentioned rod . as for reels , you want to get a 7.1:1 reel , a 6.2 or 6.4 :1 reel will suffice but is not optimal . i guess like everything , you can make do with what you got and it will get the job done just with not the most efficiency !!! ChiCityBasser Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 so is the diawa megaforce good? I had the Megaforce and it worked just fine and is 7.x:1 reel but most of the comments I have seen on the reel weren't the greatest. I now have a last years Accurist PT and like it much better than the Megaforce. The New Accurist I'm sure would also be a good step up as well. Quote
