KevO Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 I know the 50mg was designed for throwing small baits and finesse fishing. So I thought it may be good for small cranks/jerkbaits. I had one just sitting around collecting dust so I put it on a 6'6 crucial M/MF crankbait rod. It feels awesome! I am gonna try it out Sunday at dale hollow cause them smallies are supposedly hitting those bandit 200's real well. Anyone else use a 50mg for cranking? How do you like it? Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 23, 2009 Super User Posted October 23, 2009 For shallow, mid running and lipless cranks ---> purty good For deep divers ---> fair Quote
KevO Posted October 23, 2009 Author Posted October 23, 2009 yeah I'm only gonna throwing cranks that go less than 12 ft. Quote
Bronzefly Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 It's one of my go to reels for smaller shallow cranks and jerkbaits. I don't toss anything larger than say a RC 1.5 or a bandit 200 series. It's definitely a favorite of mine for these techniques. Quote

KevO Posted October 24, 2009 Author Posted October 24, 2009 Bronzefly, How does it handle Bandit 300's? With this cold snap today I think it may move them out a little bit by tomorrow. Quote
Bronzefly Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Hey Kev-O The bandit 300 isn't really a heavy resistance crank, so it would be fine with them. I toss my 300's with a TD-Z Type R+ but on occasion I'll use the 50mg and it's been fine. I just don't like higher resistance baits with the 50mg. Quote
KevO Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 I used the 300's yesterday and they were fine on the 50mg. I did manage one smallie about 12" with the bandit. Sunny days at the hollow arent good cranking days. The jigs was the weapon of choice yesterday. Quote
