There are still some of those available NIB for around $180.

Where would these fit into the current Shimano lineup?  Meaning, at that price would you get the 50mg or the Curado E, or would you still go for a higher price reel?

Although I love the CH50MG, unless you are a collector, the new

Curado 200E7 is the way to go. Now, I love them both, but the

CH50MG is more of a specialty reel as opposed to an "all-round"

Curado.

Right now other than weight ( and a special place in the heart ) the Curado E is a better option than the Chronarch Mg for about the same money.

Thanks.  That is not the answer I expected.  I have 5 Curado 101Ds and one Chronarch 51mg, and since I fish mostly for smallmouth I make sure the 51mg is on the rig I use most.  I have not had an opportunity to try the Curado E.  I need to get another baitcaster and was thinking about another 51mg.

Depends on what I was going to use it for.  I like the 50mg as an all around reel- but I also have replaced the spools to suit my needs.  I'm not into a high speed as my all around yet so I only have a few uses for the CuE7

Because of it being more of an all-round reel?  Or a better reel period?

I enjoy both the 50mg and the Curado E7.  I view these as very different animals - the Curado is much more a power fishing reel for me whereas the 50mg is more finesse oriented.  I toss small cranks and topwaters with my 50mgs most often.  I throw bigger stuff - buzzbaits, large topwaters, big jigs and worms, etc. with my Curado E's.

Other than weight, I don't see a whole lotta difference between the 50mg and the Curado 100D.  Can save lots of money going with the 100D.

Better ergonomics

Faster for picking up the slack line in a blink

Larger capacity spool ( no need for purchasing more spools to increase the line capacity )

Bigger gears

More powerful and smoother drag ( Dartanium drag )

Better and more durable finish

The Chronarch Mg is one of those reels that everybody who has owned one just loves ( I 'm included ) but it 's not perfect, it does have "flaws" , we who have and love them can be blinded by it 's virtues and overlook it 's flaws. You get one I promise you, you won 't be dissapointed, it 's a great reel, however, Curado vs Chronarch Mg for the same price ---> Curado hands down.
