tbird Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I mostly use flourocarbon for my main line and a mono leader. T Quote
alybet Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Thanks what size line do you use for both Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 18, 2009 Super User Posted October 18, 2009 I perfer braid unless there are a lot of rocks. Quote
aarogb Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Under almost all circumstances, I will use 14-17 lb. fluorocarbon main line and 12 lb. fluorocarbon leader. Quote
tbird Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I use 15#-17# fluorocarbon main line and 12-15 lb mono leader. Sometimes I use braid for my main line but I think it is quite a bit more visible than floro even though it is the main line.Your baits will have more floatation with a mono leader. T Quote
BobP Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 If you're talking open water and a 3/4 oz weight, I like 20 lb Fireline. Nothing casts farther and has as much sensitivity. When a bass bites 125' away, max sensitivity and zero stretch work best. I use fluoro but superlines have their place and this is one for me. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 19, 2009 Super User Posted October 19, 2009 I'm a braid man all the way. Freshwater........pond 10#/15# leader high bank canal 15#/20# leader,light(2000) spinning Saltwater..........most beach use 15#/30# leader larger target species 20#/40# leader,medium(4000) spin Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 19, 2009 Super User Posted October 19, 2009 Assuming you are using a baitcaster, Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12. .013" diameter, 19.5 lb breaking strength. For spinning tackle, Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6. .010" diameter, 11.9 lb breaking strength. Regardless of the line you chose, KVD Line & Lure Conditioner will improve performance. 8-) Quote
Five-Alive Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I have got to try some of that yo-zuri hybrid line. Quote
SWMIBASSER Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Assuming you are using a baitcaster, Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12..013" diameter, 19.5 lb breaking strength. For spinning tackle, Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6. .010" diameter, 11.9 lb breaking strength. Regardless of the line you chose, KVD Line & Lure Conditioner will improve performance. 8-) After going from Y/Z Hybrid two years ago to strictly 100% Flourocarbon from Berkley, I'm going back to the Y/Z and sticking with it. Of all the other stuff I've tried or fished with in between you simply can't beat Y/Z. Quote
