i recently just purchased a used loomis imx rod. at first i was a little unsure of the rod. this is becuase i didin't know that g loomis had switched a couple of things on the original imx compared to the current imx's. my imx has a metal ring on the reel seat. i think its called a wiebie reel seat. anyways i was wondering what's the main difference between the newer and older imx's? it's my first higher end rod and i can say it's awsome, compared to anything ive ever used, even if it is a older model. ;D

A lot of people seem to like the wiebe reel seat over the Fuji one.

i've read and heard the same thing to. i personaly like the metal piece that holds down the reel, to the rod.  does the new and old have the same guides?

I own several of the old and a few of the new. I am not 100 percent on this, but I think the old used Pac Bay guides and the new uses Fuji. Either way I have never had any problems with the guides on these rods. I also prefer the wiebe reel seat over the Fuji.
