newfish Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 i recently just purchased a used loomis imx rod. at first i was a little unsure of the rod. this is becuase i didin't know that g loomis had switched a couple of things on the original imx compared to the current imx's. my imx has a metal ring on the reel seat. i think its called a wiebie reel seat. anyways i was wondering what's the main difference between the newer and older imx's? it's my first higher end rod and i can say it's awsome, compared to anything ive ever used, even if it is a older model. ;D Quote
Bantam1 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 They may have changed reel seat designs but the blank material is still the same. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 A lot of people seem to like the wiebe reel seat over the Fuji one. Quote
newfish Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 A lot of people seem to like the wiebe reel seat over the Fuji one. i've read and heard the same thing to. i personaly like the metal piece that holds down the reel, to the rod. does the new and old have the same guides? Quote
TourPT Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I own several of the old and a few of the new. I am not 100 percent on this, but I think the old used Pac Bay guides and the new uses Fuji. Either way I have never had any problems with the guides on these rods. I also prefer the wiebe reel seat over the Fuji. Quote
