In the market for a new pair of rods ... I NORMALLY buy two of whatever it is just in case I like them. Now I'm not rich but I see some of the new split grip rods in the 80-120 price range. MoJo, BuCoo, Vendetta, Tessera, Powell ... anyone have decent advice both good and bad for any of these. I will fish brackish water and throw small jigs and soft plastics but I throw them with braid 90% of the time. We have the water color here to get away with it. I am 6'2" so a longer rod would by my preference but I am comfortable in the 6'6" to 7' range. I like a soft tip for pitching the lighter lures but with the backbone to turn a fish. HELP !!!

Of the rods you mentioned , Powell has a very favorable track record , the other ones have none. Just an observation.

Falcon doesn't have a favorable track record?  I don't know if i agree with that.

I just got the Tessera.. i like it so far.  it is balanced very well with my STX.. and can pull fish out of slop..  i'd def. buy another one..

I wasn't talking about the company . I was just saying this particular rod , which is new , has no track record. Sorry for my lack of communication.

I don't know how much of what I'm  gonna say is gonna hold much weight, but I'd go with the Falcon. I have a Falcon Lowrider and I absolutley love it. Soft tip, but enough backbone to bring in those fiesty smallmouth. I'd imagine that BuCoo would be somewhat comparable.

The rod monkey got me too. With year end close-outs, how can I resist. I just bought two: a Fenwick Tecnha for $130, and a Berkley Series One for 49.95 (always curious about them). Both from Cabela's.

Do you use Powell?  I am looking for a rod I can use primarily for Senkos... I was thinking of getting a Powell..  my College team just got sponsored by Powell so i want to take advantage of the discount we get..  Any recommendations?

Of the rods you mentioned, I would go with the Powell, I have a 705c and a 766 and have fished a 704c, all great rods, the 704c is a great all around rod, labeled heavy but is closer to the heavier side of a MH, if that makes any sense.  I have handled the Bucoo, Mojo, and tessera rods.  Of those three I would go with the Bucoo, it's the lightest and best feeling rod of the bunch, can't really comment on the sensitivity of any of them.  The vendetta rods look promising though

Thanks so far ... I know the Vendetta looks promising and from what I've read it's a good bargain for what you get. I have two low riders (Clark Wendlat) and an Expert Series. I also have a Powell spinning rod and am very pleased with it. I'll have to take a look at the Argon now that you've mentioned it. Keep up the posts ... they are great and very informative.

Falcon Bucoo gets my vote. I own the 7ft heavy, and I have it paired up with a high speed Zillion. I have never had any problems landing fish from shore or boat with this rod. This rod is light as a feather and has plenty of backbone. Good luck with your purchase.

Powell 683C and 704C!!

Out of all the rods listed the powell has the only LIFETIME warranty.

I have the 683c love it, and the 704 will be next. :P

The new W&M Tessera's also have a Lifetime Warranty...

Okay ... now I went today and managed a Monkey buy at Gander Mountain in Hattiesburg. How did I do ... St. Croix Legend Tournament series in 7' in a medium action fast. They were originally 220. I bought 2 for 230 and change after taxes. Did I do right and does anyone have experience with the St. Croix's. Thanks again for all that you have posted. I did look at the Tessera's today and was surprised that some called them heavy. I was quite surprised at their weight. fit and finish.
