bandsr4me20 Posted October 4, 2009 Author Posted October 4, 2009 has anyone heard about this reel? lol Quote
Super User Micro Posted October 4, 2009 Super User Posted October 4, 2009 I looked at it at a local tackle store. I didn't take the time to fiddle with it, open it up, or cast it like I do with some other reels. It seems like a solid reel. It doesn't seem to display the same level of cosemtic refinement as the Revos do, but its supposed to be that way. It actually looks a tad bit bigger than the Revos, but I may have just perceived it that way. Looks like it holds a lot of line. Quote
ALbasser Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I am also interested in this reel. My local Gander Mt. apparently does not believe in adding new reels so I have not been able to check one out yet. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted October 5, 2009 Super User Posted October 5, 2009 they are BRAND new. give them time... Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I haven't held one yet but from what I can tell the main difference is the drag discs used. From what I have read if the drag discs are it then I would probably just buy the s b/c its like 10 bucks more, or you can even get them for the same price as the orra. Quote
21farms Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 other differences are: graphite sideplates (which i actually don't mind as they are much more rash-resistant), single-disk drag (another thing i don't mind; i like the simplicity and consistent smoothness of single-disk drags), and a new 6-pin centrifugal braking system (three of which are spring-loaded). Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted October 5, 2009 Super User Posted October 5, 2009 seems like a re-vamped REVO S . i sure hope it's not their new version of the REVO SX > Quote
catchnm Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I was checking them out online last night. Looks to be a solid reel alright. Couldn't find any stated amount drag resistance specs anywhere though, maybe I just missed it. Probably just go with the Revo S like someone else said already. The Orra SX looks to be about the same in difference as the Cruxis was from the Citica D. I've become quite the fan of the Revo S recently, kinda going back to my roots after buying several Shimanos (great reels also). I'm more interested to know how the new Pitch Braking system will work out in real fishing applications. Anyone using this new brake system yet? Quote
hmongkidBee Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Yes I've heard of them. They are the round profile reels from Abu Garcia. They have them on sale at Tackle Warehouse. Check it out Quote

Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted October 7, 2009 Super User Posted October 7, 2009 seems like a re-vamped REVO S . i sure hope it's not their new version of the REVO SX > i have called ABU GARCIA and asked if this reel ( the Orra sx ) is gonna replace the REVO SX and they said NO , that is just another model added to the REVO line up and that the new REVO SX will be premiered late this month or next month !!! bigtimfish Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Yes I've heard of them. They are the round profile reels from Abu Garcia. They have them on sale at Tackle Warehouse. Check it out What? :-? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted October 8, 2009 Super User Posted October 8, 2009 Yes I've heard of them. They are the round profile reels from Abu Garcia. They have them on sale at Tackle Warehouse. Check it out What? :-? They must have the wrong pics up because they sure look like low profile reels to me! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 8, 2009 Super User Posted October 8, 2009 He's thinking of the Morrum. Quote
bigtimfish Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 C3, C4, and Morrum are round reels. The orra sx is anything but round as you can clearly see in the picture above. Quote
bandsr4me20 Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 I got the orra sx. It is really smooth. The braking system seems like any other one. I dont know much about the braking stuff though. Quote
Infidel. Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 He's thinking of the Morrum. They don't sell Morrums in the US any more. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 9, 2009 Super User Posted October 9, 2009 I realize that. Its about the only thing closely sounding like Orra that I could think of. How he can say the images of the Orra on TW look like a round reel is beyond me, LOL. Clearly a lo pro reel. Quote
Deputy Dave Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 hmongkidBee, Follow your own instructions above and look at the reel on the right and just below the Orra on the page that you advised us to open. Those are "round" reels. The Orra is not... Quote
