I have the ABT Rip Shad, which is the same thing.  Nice action in the water.  It responds very well to suspend dots/strips to make it neutrally buoyant.  Try putting some bigger hooks on them as well to decrease the rate it floats to the surface.

Go a size smaller on the hooks and crank it really slow as a wake bait too.

Very versatile

Does it have better construction than the Strike King Cranks?  If I spend $20-25 on a lure, I want to be able to use it for a long time.

And what rod/reel do you find best for your King Shad/Rip Shad?

I throw it on a MH 7' graphite or a 6'6" mh glass rod w/ 15lb big game

It is not a swimbait or crankbait. It is a ripbait. It also sucks. I had one of these and started a thread about it and how bad it was. Here's the story:

I was on the pond fishing it in the shallows for hours, and only had one strike, and the bass was on. I fought the bass for about 10-15 seconds, then I felt her come off. I reeled in only half of the lure. It is such a cheaply made peace of junk that one of the little plastic hinges riped right off. I'm guessing that was a 5 pound fish. It is definitely NOT a big fish swimbait, constructed to handle large fish. As some of the other people on this forum said on my thread, you have to be kevin vandam to have any luck with one of these!

I would like to see it constructed better as mentioned above. But I do like it. I got a bunch of them cheap over the summer for $7.99 so for the price I can't complain too much.
