The best way is to have a professional tear it down . Clean , relube it . It's fairly cheap , around 20.00 .This should be done once a year.

What is the best way to clean a spinning reel? And is it safe to run sink water over the reel?

What reel is it?

Yes do a fresh water bath only if the reel has been exposed to a salty environment...

Spinning reels aren't as easy as baitcasting reels, so I would recommend a complete break down at least once a season (with regular use), use the links supplied......

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
