St Croix Legend Elite?

Anybody know anything about these rods. I've been looking at a couple online but I've never held one in person. The main things I am interested in are weight and sensitivity. How do these compare to other upper end rods in those categories?

well ,I'm gonna try to be of some help.i own one and find it to be lightweight  and sensitive myself being a newbie this is the only high end rod i own so i don't have anything to compare it to, hopefully some one like rw  or more experienced anglers will reply to you. on a side note i was fishing a couple nights ago at a forest preserve pond and when i was leaving i ran into a guy whom i always see catching fish when nobody else seem to . it turns out this guy is a very experienced angler who fishes in a lot of tournaments he wanted to look at my rod and reel this guy couldn't believe how nice and sensitive it was he kept playing with it in the parking lot saying i cant believe this rod im gonna have to buy one of these.

I have an ES66MF, and I like it a great deal for just about everything. Its a great all around rod. I dont have anything to compare it with besides a Fenwick Techna AV and Cabelas XMLTi, and it is superior to both of those, both in weight and sensitivity. I have it paired with the older, magnesium Fuego and I love the combo. I have heard they are comparable with a Loomis IMX, but i cant say for sure since Ive never fished one.

The Legend Elite Series is comparable to G. Loomis IMX series.

St. Croix does not promote the rods as "light weight", but they

are very well balanced. Components are top notch as is the

engineering and design. Quality control is something St. Croix

can be very proud of. This is an outstanding rod series.

Well I went ahead and grabbed one off of ebay. It's the brown blank which I believe is the older version. I got the 7' MH/F. I also picked up a legend extreme off ebay. I can't wait for em to get here. thanks fellas.

Great choice in St. Croix. I would have more Elite's, but I hate the ACS reel seats they put on their casting rods. I have a 7" MLF brown blank and a 6'8 MXF green blank spinning rod that I love to drop shotting and shakeyheads. You'll love you new rods!

I have a LE 68MXFC, and it is one of my favorite sticks.  It's killer for finesse jigs, tubes, grubs, etc.  Very sensitive and light.

I feel the LE's are superior to the IMX's.

I have built 3 7 foot medium action blanks into rods, 2 for my son and 1 for me.  He loved the first so much he had me build him another.  I loved them so much I built one for me.  Ours are all the brown blank, which if I'm not mistaken, replaced the green one about 4 years ago.

I've used mine for just about everything, and just plain love it.  

Not sure how they weigh compared to others, mine weighs 3.9 oz.  I have only one 7 foot rod that weighs less, a Loomis 843 casting crankbait rod.

I have also built a 6 1/2 foot SC III for my grandson, and it is one sweet rod also.  I have read before that many on this forum consider the SCIII to be "sweet spot" for St Croix, a lot of value for significantly less money.

If the Legend Elite compares to the IMX, what does the Legend Tournament compare to?

Maybe someone else can respond to your question. I have four

Avids and two Legend Elite, but no Legend Tournament rods.

I have Avids and LT's and honestly I can't notice any significant difference.  The LT's are a bit tip heavy (split grip) while the avids are more balanced.  As for sensitivity I can't feel a difference.  If I were to do it all over again I wouldn't buy the LTs and would just have stuck to Avids.....or maybe try out some IMX/GLXs =D

As you can see they both use the same blank (so a comparison would be the same) and engineering setups..

Difference's are the guides on them and the fact that the tourney bass line is technique specific, split griped with no fore grip and a colored blank.

ReelMech- that's only the handle section.

If memory serves me correctly, this (the SCVI) was a change with this model year. Still, the working part of the blanks are what they used to be- LE: SCV and LT: SCIV

Elite:

Tourney:

They are great rods.  Very light and sensitive.  I traded a Loomis GLX Jig and Worm series rods for one.  Best trade I have ever made.  The new green ones are even better than the brown ones.

I have an LES70MF and an LTBS66MLF for smallmouth fishing. Both rods are very light, powerful, sensitive, and of extremely high quality for mass produced rods.

To be honest, for the price difference, I think the LTB is a better deal. If I were to buy another one off the shelf, it would be an LTB. If I were to go custom, I would go with the LE, as the difference in price of the blanks is minimal.

I haven't fished with an Avid, so it may be the best bargain of the bunch.
